Head of Integrated Marketing Communications

About the Role

10x Genomics is seeking a Head of Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) to lead and transform our corporate communications, brand strategy, public relations, content marketing, and corporate events into a highly strategic and cohesive function. This role will drive the company’s thought leadership, brand awareness, customer engagement, and corporate storytelling to position 10x Genomics as the leading innovator in spatial genomics and single-cell analysis.

The Head of IMC will oversee a multi-functional team and collaborate closely with product marketing, demand generation, sales, investor relations, and executive leadership to ensure alignment with business objectives. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of the life sciences industry, strong media and analyst relationships, and a proven track record in integrated marketing and communications.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Brand Positioning

  • Develop and execute an integrated marketing communications strategy that enhances 10x Genomics’ leadership in the life sciences space.
  • Oversee corporate messaging and storytelling, ensuring alignment across PR, branding, content, digital, and social media.
  • Establish clear KPIs for brand equity, thought leadership, and market positioning.
  • Strengthen 10x Genomics’ reputation through strategic public relations, media engagement, and executive communications.

Public Relations & Corporate Communications

  • Lead media relations strategy, securing top-tier coverage in industry, business, and scientific publications.
  • Manage crisis communications and reputation management, ensuring a proactive and agile response.
  • Drive internal communications efforts to align employees with corporate messaging and strengthen company culture.
  • Oversee analyst relations, ensuring that 10x Genomics is well-positioned in industry reports and evaluations.

Content, Thought Leadership & Digital Engagement

  • Develop and implement a content strategy that delivers high-value, scientific storytelling across multiple platforms.
  • Oversee executive communications, including keynote presentations, opinion pieces, and digital engagement.
  • Lead social media and community engagement efforts to enhance executive visibility and industry influence.
  • Ensure SEO optimization and performance-driven content marketing strategies that align with demand generation.

Corporate Events & Experiences

  • Define and execute a corporate events strategy that maximizes the impact of industry conferences, trade shows, and hosted events.
  • Oversee the execution of high-profile speaking engagements, customer engagement initiatives, and executive participation in strategic events.
  • Develop an event performance measurement framework to track engagement, pipeline impact, and brand positioning.

Team Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Lead a 20+ person team across corporate communications, brand, PR, content, social media, and corporate events.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing IMC team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Work cross-functionally with product marketing, demand generation, investor relations, sales, and executive leadership to ensure messaging consistency and commercial alignment.
  • Optimize processes, governance, and workflows to drive efficiency and agility within the IMC function.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 15 years of experience in integrated marketing communications, corporate communications, public relations, or brand marketing, preferably in life sciences, biotech, MedTech, or healthcare.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams, including PR, brand, content, digital, and events.
  • Strong media and analyst relationships within the biotech and life sciences industry.
  • Experience in corporate storytelling, executive communications, and thought leadership positioning.
  • Deep understanding of scientific storytelling, technical content creation, and complex B2B marketing strategies.
  • Experience managing large-scale corporate events, executive keynotes, and industry conferences.
  • Data-driven mindset with expertise in marketing analytics, brand measurement, and campaign performance tracking.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and executive influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

 

Below is the base pay range for this full-time position.  The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.  At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package.  This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program. $267,800 - $362,300 USD
