Anduril Industries is seeking a highly motivated engineer with deep subject-matter expertise in developmental and operational test for Anduril’s suite of C5ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) software and hardware systems. As an Sr. T&E Engineer, you will bring a broad and deep level of professional expertise, applying advanced knowledge and sound judgment to solve complex challenges within our Test & Evaluation team. You will work heavily with cross-functional engineering, program, and customer stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor and leader for teams focused on solving hard problems and changing the industry forever. You will become a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) for software and hardware systems, with a particular focus on the MENACE family of systems.

Overview

As part of our innovative team, you will:

  • Lead End-to-End Test Campaigns: Own and drive complex test campaigns from lab-based hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) integration through demanding field validation testing for MENACE family of systems, and other Connected Warfare products.
  • Innovate & Define Test Strategies: Develop thoughtful test strategies and methodologies that ensure our C5ISR systems not only meet stringent DoD standards but also deliver decisive, operationally relevant advantages to the warfighter. You will influence how T&E principles are applied across the organization.
  • Collaborate & Influence Extensively: Build strong networks and work closely with Program Management, Engineering, SEIT, external test ranges, and government partners. You will tailor communication and leverage influence to align others around broader company and test objectives, often leading cross-functional initiatives.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Test & Evaluation Engineer, you will take a leading role in shaping and executing our T&E efforts:

  • Plan, Lead, and Report on Test Programs: Lead the development, execution, and formal reporting of system integration, developmental, operational, and customer acceptance tests for MENACE family of systems, and other Connected Warfare products. This includes comprehensive resource planning and managing all facets of the test program.
  • Define and Drive Verification Strategies: Architect requirements-based, scenario-driven, and operationally relevant test methods. You will actively incorporate customer standards, manage end-to-end traceability, and define robust test metrics and success criteria, adapting techniques with sound judgment.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Test Efforts: Act as a key coordinator and trusted advisor for Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), managing complex test incidents, and tracking deficiencies across internal teams and external agencies. You will influence decision-making and ensure alignment toward overall program goals.
  • Advanced Data Analysis & Strategic Reporting: Perform in-depth analysis of system performance data from both lab and field environments. You will derive actionable insights and strategic recommendations, delivering formal test reports and briefings that drive product improvement and inform senior stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy: Represent the team at critical reviews, readiness boards, and milestone decision points. You will articulate complex technical issues to diverse audiences, often influencing key decisions, and ensuring safe and effective test execution.
  • Subject Matter Expertise for MENACE Systems: Act as a primary technical authority and test expert for MENACE family of systems software and hardware systems, including their integration with Lattice OS and autonomous vehicles. This includes conducting subsystem, simulation, ground, and flight/ground vehicle tests at various ranges.
  • Advance T&E Practices: Identify and implement improvements to test processes, methodologies, and infrastructure, contributing to the broader application of T&E principles across Anduril.
  • Test Range Management & Safety: Oversee the coordination and safe use of test ranges, collaborating with external agencies and ensuring rigorous adherence to established operating procedures and safety practices for all test efforts.

Required Qualifications

To thrive as a Sr. T&E Engineer at Anduril, you will possess a strong track record of impact and deep expertise:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline (equivalent relevant experience considered in lieu of education).
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of progressive experience in system-level test and evaluation (T&E) of integrated hardware/software systems.
    • 3+ years in a technical leadership or test lead capacity, demonstrating a trusted track record of impact and the ability to lead project-level initiatives.
    • Extensive hands-on experience leading and conducting complex developmental and operational test events in both lab and field environments, particularly for C5ISR and/or autonomous systems.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proven expertise in requirements development, comprehensive test planning, verification/validation strategies, and traceability management.
    • In-depth knowledge of edge compute, RF communications, tactical datalinks, and networked Command & Control (C2) systems in DoD operational settings, with specific experience in integrating and testing various datalink architectures, networks, user interfaces, and hardware.
    • Proficient in defining, collecting, and reporting complex test metrics (e.g., test coverage, requirements verification, defect closure rates) to drive strategic insights.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand new concepts quickly, apply them accurately, and organize/coordinate work phases to provide solutions for a range of complex problems.
    • Complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, with broad application across related technical specialties.
  • Communication & Leadership:
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to confidently brief and influence senior stakeholders (internal and external).
    • Demonstrated ability to build strong networks and tailor communication to align diverse teams towards shared objectives.
  • Travel & Clearance:
    • Ability to travel up to 50% for test execution in various environments (e.g., austere, tactical).
    • Active or immediately eligible for a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

These qualifications will further enhance your ability to contribute significantly:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience as a Test Lead or Test Director on a major DoD program.
  • Working knowledge and experience with relevant MIL-STDs, such as MIL-STD-810 (environmental), MIL-STD-1275/1553/1760 (power/bus interfaces), MIL-STD-461/464 (EMI/EMC).
  • Experience with test automation frameworks, scripting (e.g., Python, Go), data analysis tools, CI/CD pipelines, and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) environments.
  • Exposure to remote, austere, or tactical test operations.
  • Previous military radio experience (e.g., JTAC or similar) or experience working with manned aircraft personnel and aviation terminology.
  • Eligibility for Top Secret/SCI clearance is a significant plus.

US Salary Range

$146,000 - $220,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
