
Field Technician, Surface Maritime

ABOUT THE TEAM

We are seeking a Field Technician to join Anduril, working in a cutting-edge start-up environment to advance the state-of-the-possible in maritime robotics.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build, test, and integrate complex electrical and mechanical assemblies into our world class products
- Work within a dynamic team of multidisciplinary engineers and specialists throughout the life of platform design, integration, and test efforts
- Take on the principal responsibilities of the hands-on troubleshooting, repair, operation, and maintenance of surface platform vessels in the field
- Lead day-to-day local operations, including hardware integration/assembly, conducting pre-mission testing, payload tasking, and post-mission review
- Deploy at-sea surface platform operations from a variety of support vessel types
- Write, review, and execute work instruction, dispositions, and test plans during integration, and test
- Coordinate hardware integration with 3rd party vendors, partners, and logistics companies
- Generate user documentation for all aspects of operations, including user guides, mission planning guides, etc.
- Conduct routine design reviews of the platform under test with an eye towards improving operability and reducing learning curve for at-sea operation
- Provide direct input and feedback to the engineering team on DFM/A
- Lead local surface platform operations including supporting multiple nearshore sea test days per week
- Travel and support customer facing operations approximately 30% of the time
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years experience in technician roles having worked in a similar environment (Automotive, Aircraft, Maritime, etc.)
- 5+ years experience operating robotic systems at-sea in a commercial or research offshore environment
- Proficiency in interpreting technical documentation (mechanical drawings, work instructions, equipment schematics, electrical diagrams, etc.)
- Part fabrication skills including cable harnesses and/or plastic/metal machining
- Experience performing functional checkouts and tests
- Competent with risk assessment and hazard mitigation activities including documentation
- Ability to adapt quickly and learn in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Experience with leading on deck operations utilizing ship based crane, a-frame, or dedicated vessel launch and recovery systems
- Knowledge of electronics troubleshooting and basic use of test equipment
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented
- Demonstrated experience with marine operational procedures and equipment
- Excellent communication and customer support skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to be in office in Costa Mesa, CA daily when not deployed
- Ability to deploy up to 30% of the time
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with software development
- Experience integrating hardware in a research and development setting
- Proficient in reading and understanding engineering drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of offshore HSE policies and best practices
US Salary Range
$76,000 - $114,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
