Legal Operations Associate - New York, NY
Who we are
Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress.
Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We’re changing that.
Atoms builds Physical AI— real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive.
This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don’t just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale.
We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life.
If you want to work on hard problems with real-world impact, join us.
What you’ll do
- Drive Financial Operations: Serve as the primary lead for the legal billing lifecycle, managing the intake and oversight of high-volume invoicing and maintaining strong relationships with an extensive network of outside counsel and legal service providers.
- Architect Department Processes: Act as a "builder" by identifying operational gaps and designing team-wide workflows and process improvements. Be able to apply team principles to ambiguous situations and be a designer, owner, and enabler of legal team processes.
- Master Legal Technology: Serve as a power user and administrator for our legal tech stack, with a focus on optimizing our electronic billing system (Legal Tracker) and business user intake tools.
- Analyze Data & Insights: Manage department data and generate reports that provide visibility into legal spend, vendor performance, and overall department efficiency.
- Optimize Business Intake: Streamline how the broader business interacts with the legal team, managing the processes for commission requests and ensuring all work is triaged effectively.
- Support Litigation Workflows: Partner with our litigation counsel to provide occasional support with court filings and administrative matter management.
What we are looking for
- The "Builder" Mindset: A proactive problem-solver who is energized by ambiguity and eager to identify ways to make processes easier, faster, and more cost-effective.
- Operational Background: 1 to 3 years of experience in a process-oriented or legal operations role. Experience working within an in-house legal environment at a global organization is highly valued.
- Tech-Forward Attitude: Someone who is excited about leveraging technology to solve problems. Proficiency in Legal Tracker or similar electronic billing systems is a significant advantage.
- Meticulous Attention to Detail: Absolute precision is required for managing high-volume financial data and supporting litigation filings.
- Strong Communication & Influence: The ability to work across the company, influence diverse stakeholders, and navigate a high-caliber, legal environment.
- Analytical Curiosity: A strong interest in data analytics and BI tools, with the ability to pull meaningful insights from raw data.
