About the Security Group

The Security Department’s mission is to protect Bridgewater. We constantly evolve our cyber, physical, and staff security practices to meet business needs and stay ahead of the changing threat landscape.

About the Role

As a Security Architect, you will play a critical role in shaping the security posture of our technology landscape. This role is deeply involved in the early stages of solution design, working alongside engineering, product, and business teams to ensure security is foundational, not an afterthought. You will drive the development of scalable, secure-by-design architectures, including those supporting AI/ML systems and AI-assisted development workflows, that align with enterprise strategy and reduce organizational risk.

This is a strategic and advisory role that blends technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration. You'll define and evolve security patterns, including frameworks for securing AI pipelines and governing AI-assisted coding tools, and contribute to enterprise architecture decisions, and provide governance that supports innovation while maintaining strong security standards. Your insights will directly influence how we build and scale secure systems across the organization.

Focus Areas

  • Security StrategyShape and influence the long-term security vision by aligning architectural decisions with enterprise goals, emerging threats (including adversarial AI, model poisoning, and prompt injection), and evolving technology landscapes such as LLM-integrated applications and autonomous agents.
  • Architecture AdvisoryProvide expert guidance to engineering and product teams, ensuring security is embedded throughout the design lifecycle and enabling informed, risk-aware decision-making.
  • Design GovernanceEstablish and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and review processes that promote consistency, scalability, and secure-by-design principles across all solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architectural Partnership: Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and business units to embed security early in the design phase of systems and solutions.
  • Security Patterns & Reference Architectures: Define, maintain, and evolve security patterns and reference architectures for emerging technologies and novel use cases, including AI/ML pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, and AI-assisted development toolchains.
  • Enterprise Alignment: Translate enterprise architecture direction into actionable security architecture decisions and platform guidance.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with Security Engineering to validate the feasibility and execution of architecture decisions.
  • AI Security & Secure AI Development: Define security standards for AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., code-generation guardrails, secret-leak prevention, dependency vetting), evaluate AI/ML platform risks, and establish architectural guidance for securely integrating LLMs and AI agents into enterprise systems.
  • Risk Assessment Support: Serve as a key resource in risk assessments by conducting thorough architecture reviews and providing actionable, meaningful feedback to support well-informed, risk-based decision-making.

Requirements and Experience

Experience & Background

  • 10+ years of experience in security architecture, engineering, or related technical roles
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering secure architectures for complex, large-scale systems and initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of modern security principles, cloud-native architectures, secure software development practices, and security considerations for AI/ML systems (e.g., model integrity, data poisoning).
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineering, AI/ML platforms, threat detection, and data analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and drive adoption of architectural standards across multiple teams.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of security architecture frameworks, threat modeling (including AI-specific threat models such as OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications), and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Proficiency in designing reusable security components and driving design excellence through governance and review processes.
  • Familiarity with detection engineering, data analytics pipelines, and their integration into secure architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their AI/ML security services (e.g., AWS Bedrock Guardrails, Azure AI Content Safety, GCP Vertex AI security controls). Leadership & Collaboration.
  • Ability to lead architectural discussions and provide guidance to senior and security architects.
  • Skilled in mentoring and developing architectural talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Comfortable participating in technical oversight committees and contributing to enterprise-wide architectural strategy.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to align technical decisions with business objectives and stakeholder needs
