Product Marketing Manager, Science

Redwood City, CA (Open to Hybrid)

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative was founded by Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg in 2015 to help solve some of society’s toughest challenges — from eradicating disease and improving education to addressing the needs of our local communities. Our mission is to build a more inclusive, just, and healthy future for everyone.

The Team

CZI and its Biohub Network supports the science and technology that will make it possible to help scientists cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of this century. While this may seem like an audacious goal, in the last 100 years, biomedical science has made tremendous strides in understanding biological systems, advancing human health, and treating disease.

Achieving our mission will only be possible if scientists are able to better understand human biology. To that end, we have identified four grand challenges that will unlock the mysteries of the cell and how cells interact within systems — paving the way for new discoveries that will change medicine in the decades that follow:

  • Building an AI-based virtual cell model to predict and understand cellular behavior
  • Developing novel imaging technologies to map, measure and model complex biological systems
  • Creating new tools for sensing and directly measuring inflammation within tissues in real time.tissues to better understand inflammation, a key driver of many diseases
  • Harnessing the immune system for early detection, prevention, and treatment of disease

Our work in science is focused on doing fundamental research to better understand human biology and building the tools and technology that move science forward to prevent disease and get to cures faster.. Join us in accelerating science.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Product Marketing Manager to lead go-to-market strategies and drive adoption of CZI’s AI tools for biology, including a new platform we’re building to drive development of and increase access to machine learning models for biological research.

In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the development and direction of a new product with the potential to have a large impact on biomedical research. You will conduct market research, develop compelling positioning and messaging, and plan marketing campaigns in order to reach and engage two target audiences:

  • Model developers who are building cutting-edge machine learning models for biological applications
  • Scientific researchers who are interested in applying ML models to accelerate their research and unlock new discoveries

This role is instrumental in bridging the gap between innovation and practical use—helping technical developers and biological domain experts alike engage with, contribute to, and benefit from our software tools.

What You'll Do

  • Define and execute targeted marketing strategies that appeal to both biology model developers and life science researchers looking to apply ML tools.  This includes leading go-to-market planning and execution including launches, user acquisition campaigns, events, and content creation.
  • Craft clear, compelling messaging tailored to each audience’s needs—emphasizing platform extensibility for developers and research-enablement for biologists.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and application science teams to align technical features with user goals,  example workflows, and scientific use cases.
  • Build partnerships and community programs that deepen engagement across academic, nonprofit, and industry circles.
  • Conduct and apply user research to improve product positioning, identify market opportunities, and inform product development.
  • Define and track adoption and engagement metrics, and translate insights from user feedback into suggested product improvements.

What You'll Bring

  • 4+ years of experience in product marketing,  ideally with a background in scientific software, ML/AI platforms, or developer ecosystems.
  • Experience marketing to highly technical audiences (e.g., ML engineers, computational biologists) and scientific end users (e.g., researchers, lab scientists).
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical capabilities into narratives that resonate with distinct user personas.
  • Familiarity with the machine learning model lifecycle, open-source communities, and scientific research workflows.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiasm for accelerating biomedical discovery through open science and technology.

Compensation

The Redwood City, CA base pay range for this role is $190,000 - $261,800 New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process.

This role is a hybrid position requiring you to be onsite for at least 60% of the working month, approximately 3 days a week, with specific in-office days determined by the team’s manager. The exact schedule will be at the hiring manager's discretion and communicated during the interview process.
