Ready to grow your career in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment? Fort Worth Water is hiring an Administrative Assistant to support the Field Operations Division, where your work helps power one of the city’s most critical departments.
In this high-impact role, you’ll serve as a central support hub for HR functions, payroll processing, employee onboarding, FMLA/ADA coordination, and more. You'll collaborate with teams across the division, manage critical internal systems, and support the employees who keep Fort Worth’s water and wastewater systems running every day.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, human resources, or related field.
- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible administrative and fiscal experience in support of a department, division or major service area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of human resources principles and practices including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, FMLA and ADA.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM including Time and Labor/Absence including experience with Payroll/Timekeeping review
- Knowledge of FMLA, Worker’s Compensation Claims, ADA Accommodation process and procedures
- Must be organized, ability to plan and prioritize to meet deadline dates
- Organizational, multi-tasking and independent decision-making skills
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

The Administrative Assistant job responsibilities include:
- Responsible for payroll/timekeeping functions within the division; includes processing time, resolving payroll errors and answering related questions.
- Serve as department Human Resources Coordinator (HRC) and Medical Records Coordinator (MRC); including recruitment, benefits, FMLA, Workers Compensation, ADA Accommodations, HR responsibilities, personnel actions and other HR forms.
- Assist with monthly budget reports and annual budget tracking
- Utilize PeopleSoft HCM to obtain a variety of HR reports, run queries, employee records, etc.
- Monitor and process travel and training requests; provide applicable HR training to department staff as required.
- Train staff and be the team lead of administrative staff.
- Must be able to evaluate current processes for improvement and efficiency recommendation(s).
- Provides backup to various staff positions and participates in special projects as assigned.
- Perform wide variety of administrative support duties related to organizational need

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
