Workdays & Hours: FLSA Nonexempt position. Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; Hybrid on-site work model available with supervisory approval; staff are required to be on-site at least 3 days per week.

An IT Business Planner I position is available with the City of Fort Worth IT Solutions’ Asset Management Division. The Asset Management team is responsible for overseeing all software and computer-related hardware assets. This includes collaborating with departments to ensure hardware and software remain current, minimizing the risk of outdated systems, and preventing unauthorized or unmanaged assets from appearing on the network.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Programming, Computer Technology or a related field.
- Two (2) years of business experience, business analysis, project management, and information technology experience or related field.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Candidate selected for hire must pass a CJIS background check (see below for details).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in developing and maintaining spreadsheets, analyzing data, and preparing reports.
- ITIL Foundations Certificate or Software Asset Management (SAM) or Hardware Asset Management (HAM).
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, with some technical writing experience and work with internal and external customers and vendors to meet project-specific goals.
- Ability to work independently with demonstrated accomplishments in successful task management and execution; excellent communication at senior levels.
- Experience or knowledge of hardware/software asset management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
The IT Business Planner I’s job responsibilities include:
- Functions as the Asset Management Inventory Database Administrator, responsible for maintaining a centralized asset tracking system to ensure proper performance and connections with various external tools (Intune, Active Directory, SCCM, Power Bi, etc.)
- Coordinates, maintains and reports on all physical inventory for citywide departments.
- Provides a wide variety of daily analysis and research support.
- Participates in special projects.
- Tracks hardware and software assets through the use of various tools and by working with Department Liaisons to reconcile equipment purchases for the departments.
- Works with department liaisons and end-users to ensure accuracy of hardware and software assets and employee information in the asset management system.
- Performs quarterly inventory audits of all stocked warehouse equipment and provides detailed reporting on counts and losses.
- Performs data scrubs using all related tools and reports any changes to dept liaisons and/or management.
- Coordinate with Dept Liaison, appropriate IT Groups, HR Risk to report lost/stolen assets and communicate replacement options.
- Performs risk assessments every quarter to report on Loss/stolen assets, inactivity of an asset (hardware/software), assets assigned to inactive employees, etc.
- Works with IT Finance and HR Risk Management, and reporting department on lost or stolen assets and to track the process from the time of loss through replacement.

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Background Check
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
