Senior Associate, Asset Management

Job Overview

The Asset Manager (Senior Associate) will be responsible for maximizing the financial performance and long-term value of a designated portfolio of trophy class commercial office, residential, and mixed-use properties in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. This includes developing and executing asset-level strategies, analyzing financial performance, identifying value-add opportunities, and managing joint venture relationships. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of real estate finance, operations, and market dynamics, with a proven track record of success in asset management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee property-level financial performance, budgets, and business plans
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly financial review process for assigned assets
  • Monitor leasing, capital projects, and operating expenses
  • Coordinate with property managers, leasing brokers, and vendors
  • Prepare internal reporting packages and variance analyses
  • Review and approve property-level budgets and reforecasts
  • Supervise and mentor assigned Analyst
  • Contribute to asset-level strategy discussions and hold/sell recommendations
  • Participate in annual strategic planning and valuation exercises
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, or a related field
  • 5+ years of real estate asset management or closely related experience with a focus on commercial office, residential, and/or mixed-use properties.
  • Strong understanding of property financials, lease structures, and operations
  • Proficiency in Excel; Argus and Yardi experience required
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel and real estate financial software (e.g., Argus Enterprise).
  • Demonstrated understanding of real estate investment principles, market analysis, and property valuation techniques.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and lead support staff
