About the role

As the Principal Product Manager for Payment Optimization, you will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of Crunchyroll’s payment orchestration and fraud mitigation platforms. You'll be responsible for building intelligent, scalable systems that increase payment success, reduce passive churn, and minimize fraud risk across all platforms and markets. This is a high-impact, highly cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of user experience, revenue growth, fraud, and platform trust. This role will report into Crunchyroll's VP of Product Management and is a hybrid role which can sit out of our San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Dallas office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payment Optimization Strategy – Define and drive the roadmap for payment success across global platforms by orchestrating smarter routing, retries, and logic that adapts to market behavior, cost, and risk.
  • Dynamic Payment Orchestration – Partner with Engineering to build a flexible orchestration layer that integrates with multiple PSPs and enables dynamic decisioning to optimize for success rates, cost efficiency, and redundancy.
  • Fraud & Abuse Mitigation – Lead our product strategy to detect and prevent payment-related abuse, including stolen card use, account sharing, promotion exploitation, and bot-driven subscription fraud.
  • Global Payments Resilience – Build infrastructure that supports regional payment methods, mobile wallets, and platform-specific flows (e.g., Apple, Google, PayPal), ensuring compliance, consistent performance, and fallback logic in case of failure.
  • Data-Driven Optimization – Define KPIs, report, and build feedback loops using transactional data, fraud trends, and churn metrics to continuously improve our success rates and fraud prevention capabilities.
  • Compliance & Risk Management – Partner with Legal, Security, and Finance to ensure payment systems are secure, compliant with PCI and regional regulations, and designed with user protection in mind.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with Finance, Engineering, Legal, CX, and external partners (e.g., PSPs, fraud vendors) to execute initiatives and scale payment systems globally.
  • Platform Thinking – Ensure the platform is extensible, observable, and supports experimentation at scale—for example, A/B testing retry logic or fraud scoring thresholds.

What Success Looks Like

  • Drive measurable increases in global payment success rates and reductions in passive churn.
  • Deliver a scalable, intelligent payment orchestration platform with multi-PSP integration and dynamic optimization for cost, risk, and conversion.
  • Lead fraud and abuse prevention initiatives, reducing payment-related fraud and losses.
  • Ensure full compliance with PCI-DSS and global payment regulations, partnering with Legal, Security, and Finance.
  • Leverage payment, fraud, and churn data to build automated reporting, optimization loops, and continuous platform improvements.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Finance, Legal, CX, and external vendors.
  • Build an extensible, resilient payment infrastructure that enables experimentation, A/B testing, and rapid scaling.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted leader driving payment innovation, risk reduction, and revenue growth across the organization.

About You

  • 15+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years focused on payments, fraud prevention, or monetization systems in a global consumer platform.
  • Deep understanding of payment processing systems, PSP integrations, retry logic, and fraud detection techniques.
  • Experience with global payment methods and checkout flows across web, mobile, and OTT platforms.
  • Strong product instincts with the ability to balance conversion, risk, and long-term scalability.
  • Comfort designing platform-level infrastructure that enables internal and third-party integrations.
  • Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional initiatives and influence without direct authority.
  • You are humble, hungry, an influential cross-functional partner, and a talent multiplier within your org.

Nice to have

  • Experience in subscription billing platforms (e.g., Recurly, Stripe, Braintree, Adyen, etc.)
  • Familiarity with fraud scoring engines, behavioral analytics, and third-party risk vendors.
  • Background working on monetization within a streaming service or mobile-first platform.
  • Ability to tie payment performance to user outcomes like churn, LTV, and user trust.
  • Experience with user education around payment failures or fraud recovery.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
