Software Engineer, Java - Checkout

The Commerce organization is looking for an experienced and passionate Back-end engineer to join the team that will build the systems and integration of the future to allow Squarespace customers to manage and grow their business .

We are a cross-functional group of accomplished people who build the experiences and services necessary to guarantee a reliable and delightful experience from the moment a shopper starts to buy a product from a merchant to the moment they receive their purchase. Our platform powers a wide array of products like scheduling, e-commerce, member area, subscriptions, point of sale etc. We believe that a great product doesn't stop at a great user experience; it needs to have a great scalability, reliability and developer experience too.

You will report directly to the Engineering Team Manager for our Dublin team. This position will work 3 days per week in our Dublin Office.

You'll Get To…

  • Build: Create new products and experiences that serve hundreds of thousands of businesses and their customers.
  • Collaborate: Partner with senior engineers, product managers, and designers to define the information architecture and frontend principles of our commerce platform.
  • Innovate: Contribute to an environment that encourages technical creativity and product innovation.
  • Engage: Collaborate across teams to translate technical complexities into actionable solutions, ensuring alignment with partners and stakeholders.

Who We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in the software industry, developing in Java, C++, Go or another object-oriented language. Experience developing large-scale software.
  • 1+ years of experience launching eCommerce products
  • A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design practices.
  • Experience developing and launching eCommerce products and experiences.
  • Experience coaching engineers with diverse specialties.
  • Ability to break down technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional grasp of engineering practices like API designs, automated testing, documentation, architectural diagramming, and code reviews.
