About the role
We are looking for a detail-oriented PLM Specialist to drive product data accuracy and engineering change control from design through NPI and into production. In this hands-on role, you will manage product structures, part numbers, BOMs, and documentation through our PLM systems to ensure accurate, consistent product data across teams and systems. You'll serve as a critical point of coordination between engineering, operations, production, and supplier teams—enabling fast, error-free product development and release cycles.
This role is based onsite at our Mountain View, CA office and is ideal for someone who thrives on precision, structure, and systems thinking in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
What you'll do
- Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy, proper structure, and revision control.
- Create, manage, and track part numbers and metadata throughout their lifecycle in the PLM system.
- Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) from initiation through approval and release, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Validate that drawing packages and documentation are complete and consistent before release.
- Ensure data integrity and synchronization across PLM, ERP, and other integrated systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and supplier teams to deliver timely and accurate product data and change documentation.
- Upload, link, and manage supporting files and documentation in the PLM system to maintain complete product records.
- Generate and interpret PLM reports to track BOM accuracy, change status, and readiness for release.
- Provide PLM system support for users including data entry, workflow guidance, and troubleshooting.
- Partner with IT and vendors on system integrations, updates, and support coordination.
- Drive continuous improvement in PLM workflows to streamline change cycles and increase accuracy.
- Promote standardized PLM adoption through documentation, user training, and process enforcement.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of experience in PLM data management, change control, or engineering support.
- Strong understanding of product structures, engineering drawings, and release processes.
- Experience managing BOMs, part numbers, and metadata within PLM platforms (e.g., Solidworks PDM, OpenBOM, Arena, Windchill, Agile, Enovia).
- Familiarity with ERP and MES system integration and maintaining data consistency across systems.
- High attention to detail with a structured, organized approach and ability to manage multiple concurrent changes.
- Clear and proactive communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficient in PLM-related software and tools, including MS Excel, Smart Sheets, or other reporting platforms.
- Ability to support fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environments with high standards of data governance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting autonomous vehicles, robotics, or advanced manufacturing.
- Background in CAD and basic drawing validation (Solidworks, Catia, NX) or CAD admin responsibilities.
- Experience working in scaling startup environments with evolving infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with SaaS-based PLM/PDM systems and cross-platform access support (Mac/Windows).
- Exposure to large data migrations or PLM transitions (e.g., Arena to Windchill).
- Strong project coordination and stakeholder engagement in engineering or product development teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business administration, or a related field
Salary Ranges - $110,000- $170,000
More about Gatik
Founded in 2017 by experts in autonomous vehicle technology, Gatik has rapidly expanded its presence to Mountain View, Dallas-Fort Worth, Arkansas, and Toronto. As the first and only company to achieve fully driverless middle-mile commercial deliveries, Gatik holds a unique and defensible position in the AV industry, with a clear trajectory toward sustainable growth and profitability.
We have delivered complete, proprietary AV technology - an integration of software and hardware - to enable earlier successes for our clients in constrained Level 4 autonomy. By choosing the middle mile – with defined point-to-point delivery, we have simplified some of the more complex AV challenges, enabling us to achieve full autonomy ahead of competitors. Given extensive knowledge of Gatik’s well-defined, fixed route ODDs and hybrid architecture, we are able to hyper-optimize our models with exponentially less data, establish gate-keeping mechanisms to maintain explainability, and ensure continued safety of the system for unmanned operations.
