Senior Instructional Designer

 

Position Overview:

As a Senior Instructional Designer at Iterable, you will design & build customer virtual (online) educational training courses and certification using Camtasia, Articulate Rise360, Genially, Canva, Descript, and other tools for the SkillJar learning management platform.

Core Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Instructional Designer will help to lead the vision and program development of the Iterable Academy by working closely with the Senior Manager of Customer Education to develop new offerings
  • Own project management and data collection of the courses you develop
  • Work cross-functionally with Product and Marketing to create courses that meet the needs of our customers 
  • Responsible for mentoring new IDs to the team and helping to develop internal processes to onboard new team members
  • Accountable for working outside their immediate job function as needed, and willing to take on diverse projects of various sizes 
  • This role must be a master of relationship creation, resource curation, and research, as these are foundational to what we do in education
  • The main Key Results (KR) of the Instructional Designer is achieving a course consumption rate of 80% or higher, as well as meeting any overarching team OKRs and company initiatives 

 

Immediate tactical areas of focus will include:

  • Develop and continually hone expertise in our platform and 3rd party integrations
  • Update and maintain existing Academy content with platform optimizations and UI / branding changes
  • Create brand new content for the Academy based on the needs of our customers, product releases, and program direction
  • Continuously stay up to speed with product releases and changes in the app
  • Work with PS  and CS teams to continually integrate more and better education content across the customer journey to automate onboarding and scale the CS Organization
  • Identify and iterate on non-product training content focused on enabling growth marketers to succeed (strategy, operations, process, change management, etc.)
  • Play an active role in developing the certification program for customers and serve as an advisor for any partner certifications created.
  • Maintain and suggest improvements for the Iterable Academy, including design changes, learning path updates and reclassifications, course enhancements, and opportunities for student engagement.
  • Identify industry events to attend and learn about trends and innovation in Education Services  and Instructional Design (virtual until business travel is permitted again)
  • Develop videos in Camtasia and create courses using Rise 360 for the SkillJar LMS in adherence to the Education Content Roadmap
  • Complete the Deliverability Learning Path and Certification exam, which your predecessor started 



Long-term strategic areas of focus will include:

  • integrate customer education across the entire customer lifecycle
    • We work with Marketing, CS, PS, and Product, and it’s very important that the person hired in this role can create relationships across these various teams, for the betterment of their role function and our organization
  • Be a leading voice, along with the Senior Manager of Customer Education, in articulating what we do in Customer Education, how Academy is an integral part of the customer lifecycle journey, and how internal employees can and should utilize Academy education to better enable their customers and/or our partners. 
  • Continuously look for gaps in our knowledge offerings, and bring those ideas to the team
  • Certification Program: Develop advanced-level courses to continue expanding our Customer Certification Program, working with direction from the Senior Manager of Customer Education.

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of experience in instructional design in the Saas industry (Or, if commensurate knowledge and experience in a shorter time frame can be proven, those candidates will also be considered). 
  • Experience in multi-modality training development (online and live): video, audio, image creation, brand design, voice over, and script writing
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage several important, multi-input projects at one time, spanning weeks or months as needed 
  • Experience using  Camtasia, SnagIt, Articulate Rise 360, Genially, Canva, and the SkillJar LMS
  • A strong understanding of core design and education principles (ex., ADDIE, Kirkpatrick’s model for training evaluation, etc). 
  • Experience using the Asana project management platform
  • A strong understanding of AI tools, both for course development and day-to-day use. 
  • LMS administration (experience building course content within a learning management system)
  • HTML or other technical coding experience

  • An understanding of how educational content helps our customers meet their business needs, and can vocalize that effectively

 The US base salary range for this position at the start of employment is $109,500 - $146,000. Within this range, individual pay is determined by specific US work location, as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and internal equity considerations.

Please note that the range listed above reflects only base salary. The total compensation package includes variable pay (where applicable), equity, plus a range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and financial. In addition, we offer perks such as generous stipends for health & fitness and learning & development, among others.
