The Head of Technology - Media & Lyft Business will play a pivotal role in shaping the product vision, roadmap, and technical execution for both Media, our emerging Ads business, and Lyft Business, our expanding B2B portfolio. Reporting to the EVP of Media & Lyft Business, you will lead a diverse, full-stack team across product, engineering, data science, and user experience. Your leadership will define a new category of mobility media while simultaneously driving innovation and growth in B2B transportation solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a sophisticated ads platform and develop next-generation B2B transportation use cases that connect drivers, riders, and brands in meaningful ways.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning and Vision: Develop and implement a strategic roadmap that integrates ad network dynamics, platform capabilities, and data-driven experimentation. Drive product innovation across the Lyft Media Owned and Operated, within the Tech Stack, into off network audience extensions, and more. In addition, lead innovation across multiple verticals inclusive of Healthcare, Business Travel, Commute, Education, Transit and many others while also identifying and scaling new B2B transportation use cases.
  • Technology Development and Innovation: Oversee the development and implementation of cutting-edge advertising and B2B technologies, creating scalable platforms that meet the needs of advertisers and enterprise clients.
  • Team Leadership, Recruitment, and Management: Recruit, lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of ad tech and B2B professionals, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams in designing, analyzing, and testing new monetization strategies to enhance engagement for riders and drivers at scale. Inspire aligned work toward company goals and help leaders prioritize to achieve shared results.
  • Budget Management: Manage the budget for the technology teams, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to meet business objectives.
  • Compliance and Privacy: Ensure all technologies and practices comply with relevant regulations and privacy standards.
  • Data Analysis and Optimization: Utilize data analytics to measure the effectiveness of technologies and campaigns, continuously optimizing for better performance and ROI.
  • Market Research and Trends: Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes to keep the company at the forefront of innovation.

Experience:

  • Proven experience owning a multi-product platform across diverse ecosystems and leading transformations from legacy systems to scalable solutions supporting millions of transactions per day.
  • At least 15+ years of experience building and leading full-stack tech teams in the adtech and B2B space, ideally in a complex, global, rapidly evolving environment. Highly entrepreneurial with a track record of building and scaling successful products and services from the ground up.
  • Experience in building shared solutions across multiple platforms for key domains like quote to cash, invoicing, and data warehousing.
  • Technical excellence in execution; able to effectively drive the roadmap for a large team of product managers, data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners in a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to craft a coherent product vision, multi-year strategy, and quarterly roadmap that your team and the business rally behind.
  • Strong business judgment; data-savvy, highly analytical, and understanding of the impact of business decisions on the P&L.
  • Expertise in the AdTech/programmatic ecosystem with extensive knowledge of its functions.
  • Experience with geo-location advertising technologies is a strong plus.
  • Consistent track record of linking product development opportunities and issues to broader business and operational goals, dealing with complex projects, and meeting conflicting prioritization and resourcing demands.
  • Strategic problem solver; demonstrated ability to identify important long-term trends and opportunities and translate those into meaningful insights, product, and engineering priorities.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco or New York area is 350K-375K. In addition to the base pay, this role is eligible for competitive equity awards, bonuses, and benefits. You can read more about Lyft’s employee benefits here.
