PlanetScale is growing rapidly and reinventing the transactional database market. The PlanetScale platform offers both Postgres and Vitess clusters. Vitess, an open-source database clustering system for horizontal scaling of MySQL, enables businesses to efficiently handle large-scale data workloads — without sacrificing developer experience.

Our customers entrust us with what is often their most precious digital asset, their data, so the stakes couldn't be higher. We're looking for a leader to build and lead PlanetScale’s Sales Development function to support a world class outbound motion and a systems driven approach to managing inbound pipeline as well as product led growth opportunities.

 

What's the job to be done?

  • Take on sales led pipeline generation while building the sales development function
  • Build and scale an outstanding sales development team and maintain a constant high quality bar
  • Partner with rev ops to build systems, processes and tooling to maximize opportunity qualification efficiency
  • Drive prospect qualification and set Sales up for productive discovery sessions
  • Partner with sales and marketing on strategies and tactics to generate pipeline in key named accounts
  • Maintain strong reporting, forecast, accountability, and attainment against quota

 

What you will need

  • 3+ years of experience managing sales development teams with consistent overachievement against quota
  • Experience building a sales development team by recruiting and developing SDRs/BDR managers and ICs, focused on giving people the training and support that they need to succeed
  • High proficiency in leveraging sales tools including Salesforce, Outreach/Salesloft or the equivalent
  • Passion and desire to sell a deeply technical product that powers some of the largest cloud workloads

 

What else will help you be successful

  • Familiarity with database and open source software
  • Trained in MEDDIC and Command of the Message

Total Compensation and Pay Transparency

An employee's total compensation consists of base salary + variable comp where appropriate + benefits + equity. A member of our Talent Acquisition team will be happy to answer any further questions when we engage with you to begin the interview process.

**Base salary range:** $120,000 - $180,000 USD
