Software Engineering Manager, Platform
About the Team
Our Platform Team forms the technical foundation of Possible's FinTech products. We own critical infrastructure, deployment systems, and technical standards that power our engineering organization. We're a small, focused team (4 developers: 2 frontend, 2 backend) handling a mix of infrastructure, DevOps, DevEx, and platform engineering.
We play a pivotal role in architectural decisions, ensuring that our systems are designed for scale, security, and maintainability. By collaborating closely with product teams, we help shape technical solutions that align with our business goals while maintaining our technical standards.
Currently, we're taking on the challenges of scaling our infrastructure to support our growing user base while developing reusable components that accelerate product development. We're enhancing our observability systems, refining our architectural patterns, and building robust developer tooling that reduces friction and improves efficiency across engineering teams.
The Role
As Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for the Platform Team while maintaining significant hands-on technical involvement. This role requires direct technical contributions to our infrastructure, not just oversight. You'll architect solutions, implement improvements, and actively drive our platform evolution.
What You'll Do
Lead and develop our 4-person platform engineering team
Actively contribute technical solutions to our AWS infrastructure
Design and implement containerization strategies and CI/CD pipelines
Architect technical standards for observability, monitoring, and reliability
Drive infrastructure-as-code practices and implementation
Directly participate in on-call rotations and technical incident response
Ensure our platform meets security and compliance requirements for FinTech
Requirements
3+ years engineering management experience
Strong hands-on technical abilities in cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
Direct experience implementing and managing containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Practical expertise with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar)
Experience developing and optimizing build and deployment pipelines
Deep knowledge of observability systems and alerting frameworks
Track record of personally implementing infrastructure solutions, not just directing work
Experience with security and compliance in infrastructure design
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Location and Benefits:
We prefer people located in Seattle or those willing to relocate. We have a hybrid work style, with the team meeting at our downtown office three times weekly.
We offer a competitive salary range of $187,760.00 - $197,650.00 annually, with significant equity potential based on experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off.
