Who you are
You are a highly skilled Data Engineer Lead who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment and a proven team leader. You have a track record of guiding teams to deliver and maintain secure and scalable data platforms. You’re comfortable collaborating with security, product, and engineering teams, and you can communicate technical decisions clearly. You bring discipline and creativity to your work and team. You’re energized by solving complex data challenges and mentor and coach engineers, foster a culture of excellence, and balance technical vision with practical delivery.
What you will do
As a Data Engineer Team Lead:
- You’ll lead and mentor the Data Engineering team to deliver on roadmap goals.
- You’ll coordinate project execution, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld.
- You’ll analyze, design, and implement ETL processes and infrastructure improvements.
- You’ll write efficient, well-tested code and conduct unit and integration testing.
- You’ll participate in end-to-end project delivery—from ideation to production.
- You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with security and product teams to embed security and compliance best practices into development processes.
- You’ll contribute to the team’s agility, quality, and automation efforts (CI/CD, testing, deployment).
- You’ll provide technical guidance and hands-on support when needed.
- You’ll surface and communicate risks related to technology, security, or operations.
What your resume shows
Must Haves
- Strong alignment with our Core Values
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or ETL development
- 5+ years of experience leading a data engineering team or project.
- 5+ years of experience in Apache Spark or Databricks
- 3+ years of experience with AWS cloud services
- 5+ years of experience building, deploying, and optimizing data ingestion pipelines
- Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience with real-time data streaming (e.g., Flink, Spark Structured Streaming, Kafka Streams)
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to Haves
- Proven experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers.
- Experience transitioning teams or platforms during high-pressure projects.
- Ability to scale teams and processes in a growing company.
- Familiarity with tools such as Apache Kafka, Delta Lake, Apache Hive, Apache Impala, Apache Beam
- Experience working in a startup environment
- Experience in cybersecurity or sensitive data protection
- Bilingual in English and French
- Strategic preference for candidates residing in Quebec or Ontario
