Overview
RA Capital’s Family Office and Partner Services team is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Bookkeeper to join its high-performing platform. This team provides bespoke financial operations and advisory support to the firm’s Founders, Partners, and Executive Officers.
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing bookkeeping, payment processing, account reconciliation, and other high-volume financial activities across multiple client entities. The role requires precision, a solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to interface with internal team members, clients, and external vendors with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Bookkeeping
- Review and process client invoices; assess urgency of action required to avoid fees or penalties.
- Coordinate with internal team members and external vendors to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Prepare checks and process electronic payments through client payment platforms.
- Input vendor and invoice data in Eton Solutions and generate reports as needed.
Account Reconciliation & Maintenance
- Maintain and reconcile multiple accounts across various client entities.
- Track and implement billing address changes, autopay setups, and vendor notifications to ensure payment accuracy.
- Occasionally liaise with vendors to establish or terminate services for client needs (e.g., utilities, property services).
Client Support & Cashiering
- Process and track wire transfers, journals, and all monetary transactions with full reconciliation.
- Communicate with clients on billing or payment inquiries with a service-first mindset.
- Document procedures related to bill processing, reporting, and ad hoc requests.
Office Administration & Efficiency Projects
- Support scanning, document preparation, filing (digital and paper), and occasional phone support.
- Identify and propose workflow improvements to enhance technology use and internal efficiency.
Qualifications
- 3 – 5 years of experience in a similar role; prior work in a family office or private client services environment is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree required; CPA designation is desirable but not required.
- Strong knowledge of accounting methods and high-volume transaction processing.
- Experience with Eton Solutions or similar general ledger/performance reporting systems.
- Experience coordinating with external custodians is beneficial.
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks independently.
- Strong communication skills—both oral and written—with a focus on clarity and professionalism.
- Demonstrated discretion, maturity, and sound judgment in handling sensitive client information.
- Familiarity with personal financial planning topics, including tax, trust, and insurance, is a plus.
- Proactive and continuously eager to learn, adapt, and improve existing processes.
- Must be based in the greater Boston area (no relocation provided)
- Must be willing to work on a hybrid schedule in our Boston office (4 days minimum)
- Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
