Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Senior Buyer to source and qualify suppliers, quote tooling/products/services, place purchase orders, confirm invoices, and coordinate/track deliveries.
What you get to do!
- Audits and maintains MRP system integrity for areas of department and/or individual responsibility as defined by company or department guidelines.
- Execute the role of buyer with limited oversight
- Mentor, train, and support entry level buyers.
- Source/Find new suppliers in support of project goals.
- Establish relationships and communications with new and existing suppliers.
- Submit requests for quotes for capital tooling/equipment, products/components, and services in support of projects.
- Negotiate prices with multiple suppliers to achieve desired cost targets.
- Support Quality Engineers in the qualification and approval of new suppliers.
- Maintain revision control for all drawings, artwork, and CAD data with the supplier throughout the quoting and ordering process.
- Facilitate design for manufacturing reviews between the design engineers and the supplier.
- Place purchase orders for goods and services and track progress of purchase orders from placement of order to receipt of goods and/or services.
- Keep the Project Manager and Lead Engineer informed of cost estimates, cost quotes, cost changes, order status, delivery dates, and changes in order status and delivery dates.
- Identify and support the implementation of process improvements within the Purchasing function to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve supplier performance.
What you will bring to the Team
- 10 to 12 yrs. of experience as a buyer or in procurement
- Extensive knowledge of supply chain management principles
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management/Business Management or work experience is preferred.
- An understanding of manufacturing processes
- Ensuring production processes are capable and stable
- Ensuring suppliers are qualified and purchasing is controlled
