We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Manager, Quality Systems

The Quality Systems Manager is accountable for the overall design, implementation, and effective functioning of Redwood’s Quality Management System. This includes procedural processes as well as supporting software solutions to enable the process. The Manager sets the priority, scope, and interactions of the elements within the Quality Management System. This role requires collaboration and coordination across the business to identify and close gaps to drive effective systems and processes. The ideal candidate will bring a systems-thinking mindset, strong leadership, and a passion for quality and compliance.

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Lead the development, deployment, and maintenance of the QMS, including document control, audits, CAPA, and change management systems.
  • Align quality system priorities and scope with maturity and requirements of business units and customers
  • Ensure system compliance with relevant regulations and standards (i.e., ISO9001, IATF16949, VDA6.3, ISO17025).
  • Evaluate and drive readiness and compliance to internal, external and customer requirements.
  • Build internal competencies to provide appropriate support for quality system design and execution.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and software teams to define and implement quality system requirements and workflows.
  • Manage and mentor a team of quality systems engineers, specialists, and technical program managers.
  • Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of non-conformances and improvements.
  • Drive system integration efforts, including tools like JIRA, Redwood Execution System (REX), and QMS/EHS platforms.
  • Develop and track quality metrics to assess system effectiveness and compliance.
  • Partner with training teams to ensure quality training programs are aligned with system needs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for quality systems during new program launches and operational scale-ups.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • 7+ years of experience in quality systems or quality engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity
  • Demonstrated excellence in creating and effectively improving QMS or quality programs for a multi-site growing company.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with relevant Quality Standards such as ISO9001, IATF16949, VDA6.x, ISO17025)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency and experience with QMS software, audit management, and process mapping tools.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone.

Working Conditions:

  • General office environment with occasional work in warehouse and operation area(s).
  • Occasional travel as needed to Redwood operational sites, suppliers, and/or customers.
  • Environment can include dry and dusty conditions.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, loud noises, and hot or cold temperatures.
  • Essential physical requirements include standing, walking, typing and sitting during review meetings.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
