MANAGER, STARSHIP SUPPLY CHAIN ENGINEERING (GASIFIER & CREW STARSHIP)

The Manager for Starship Supply Chain will be responsible for overseeing a team of Supply Chain individuals including Sourcing managers, and Supply chain Engineers. This team is responsible for strategic sourcing, vendor management, part supply and quality/reliability required for Starship production areas. The team will monitor and report consumption, inventory, incoming purchased orders, MRP messages, and targets achieved at a weekly, monthly, and yearly cadence.

This is a dynamic position that requires proactive involvement in the development of strategic action plans for key departmental deliverables while managing inventory levels, identifying risks, and clearly communicating program Supply Chain health to key stakeholders.

The candidate will develop and lead complex, multi-disciplinary teams and projects. And will be required to dive into the unique challenges we face daily to ensure a healthy and reliable Supply Chain for Starship Gasifier and Crew. This role requires someone who is able to create a strategic team vision enabling Starship supply chain operations to scale with a high degree of excellence. The candidate will be able to define high level goals with alignment from cross-functional leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead Cross-Functional Initiatives

  • Work cross-functionally with other supply chain verticals, engineering leadership, and production management to proactively identify inventory health risks, critical path parts, and strategic risk mitigation opportunities
  • Collaborate with production and engineering leadership to drive alignment on master scheduling, milestones, takt targets, block changes, and critical timelines
  • Define strategic/tactical goals and lead initiatives around those goals to ensure production and engineering stakeholder expectations are met
  • Lead strategic sourcing and supply chain engineering teams to ensure alignment across goals on cost, quality, and delivery
  • Develop standards and expectations to ensure at-rate delivery from suppliers
  • Ensure end-to-end delivery execution from when the part leaves the supplier’s facility to when it arrives to its specified production area
  • Own change management on behalf of supply chain, and ensure on-time introduction at rate to support introduction of changes
  • Identify opportunities for either insourcing or outsourcing part manufacturing in order to support rate (drive, make, and buy)

Drive Execution

  • Drive and motivate the team in ensuring all deliverables and expectations are met and executed
  • Develop reporting procedures and systems such as status dashboards
  • Identify and implement process, system, or training improvement projects
  • Track and review established KPI’s with team and adjust initiatives as needed to drive progress
  • Develop and champion various cross-functional cost reduction efforts and projects
  • Work autonomously and proactively to resolve a wide variety of issues in creative ways
  • Ensure the team has healthy inventory levels, purchase order integrity and scheduled deliveries, and planned messages converted within their scheduled start

Build and Manage An Awesome Team

  • Represent the team, and ensure supply chain has a seat at the table to ensure alignment with the Starship program priorities and leadership
  • Develop a team of world-class supply chain professionals by conducting weekly 1:1s with direct reports and collaborating on personal development plans for each member
  • Interview and hire candidates for all of Supply Chain
  • Develop a succession plan with leads and effectively manage attrition to ensure business continuity
  • Embody and radiate the Operations Planning core values: transparency, accountability, and ownership

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree and 4+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
    • Engineering
    • Purchasing
    • Contract negotiation
    • Material or production planning
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Material cost control
    • Master production scheduling
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team with direct reports

PREFERED SKILLS:

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, technical procurement or supply chain management
  • Strong technical understanding of MRP system
  • Experience with BOM management within TeamCenter
  • Experience sourcing and managing medium-complexity machined components
  • Highly-collaborative team player with impeccable attention to detail and strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills with a bias for speed without sacrificing quality
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across disciplines
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively while managing multiple critical priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, loosely-structured environment
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel (ability to create pivot tables or macros, and analyze data)
  • Experience with SQL and Power BI
  • Conducts all activities with the highest integrity

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel for work up to 20%

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:      

Pay range:      

Manager: $130,000.00 - $180,000.00/per year         

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Exempt employees are eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year.
