VP, Regional Content Director
Multiple Positions Available – Join a Bold New Leadership Team
TEGNA is building a forward-thinking content leadership team to drive innovation and excellence across our local news stations. As part of this effort, we are hiring multiple (or ‘a team of’) VP, Regional Content Directors who will each lead the execution of a comprehensive, multi-platform content strategy across a defined region.
These leaders will be responsible for overseeing editorial and content execution across multiple TEGNA stations in the region, especially during breaking news and weather events. They will work closely with station teams to ensure content is delivered quickly and accurately while maintaining the highest standards of quality and strategic alignment.
These leaders will play a vital role in shaping the future of local journalism, working with station content teams to create impactful, audience-first content on Digital, Streaming, and Linear platforms.
These positions report to the Chief Content Officer and will work closely with regional and station-level leadership. As part of a new and growing team, our VP, Regional Content Directors will help shape the playbook for high-impact, multiplatform journalism across TEGNA’s stations.
Responsibilities
- Lead regional content teams across multiple markets to deliver compelling, high-impact storytelling that upholds journalistic standards and drives audience engagement.
- Develop and execute content strategies tailored to local audiences while supporting TEGNA’s broader multiplatform vision.
- Equip stations with the tools, workflows, data insights, and AI capabilities needed to optimize content creation across Digital, Streaming, and Linear platforms.
- Use real-time audience data and analytics to guide editorial priorities and identify content opportunities.
- Champion a culture of creativity, urgency, innovation, and accountability, with a strong emphasis on weather, breaking news and enterprise storytelling.
- Stay ahead of trends in journalism, technology, and distribution to help teams adapt quickly and strategically.
- Leverage standout local successes to inform and elevate content strategies across all markets.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated success leading large, multi-market content teams through transformation and growth.
- 15+ years of journalism experience, including at least 10 years in senior content leadership roles.
- Strong background in TV/linear production with experience in digital operations and cross-platform storytelling.
- Excellent editorial judgment, with a deep commitment to accuracy, fairness, and public service journalism.
- Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of content strategy, audience development, and platform-specific storytelling.
- Proficient across digital, broadcast, and social platforms, with a clear understanding of how to engage modern audiences.
- Proven ability to lead teams through change, foster collaboration, and deliver measurable results.
- Strong communicator who leads with vision, clarity, and purpose.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment; embraces innovation and continuous improvement.
Pay Range
$200,000 - $400,000 USD

Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.
Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.
TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
