NewsWest 9 is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Production Assistant to support our newsroom and studio operations. This entry-level role is a great opportunity for someone passionate about broadcasting and looking to gain hands-on experience in television production. The Production Assistant will work closely with producers, directors, anchors, and technical staff to ensure smooth and successful newscasts and special programming.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with all aspects of studio production, including camera operation, teleprompter, floor direction, and audio/lighting support.
- Prepare and maintain studio sets and equipment before and after broadcasts.
- Operate production equipment during live and recorded newscasts.
- Collaborate with producers and directors to execute rundowns accurately and on time.
- Assist with newsroom tasks, including script organization, graphics coordination, and show timing.
- Ensure smooth communication between the control room, studio, and newsroom staff.
- Support field crews and special projects as needed.
- Maintain professionalism and adaptability in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Requirements:
- Strong interest in television production and journalism.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic understanding of production equipment and software (preferred but not required training provided).
- Previous broadcasting or media experience is a plus but not required.
