Our headquarters are located in San Francisco and we have additional offices in Knoxville, TN and New York City with employees working remotely in AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, LA, MA, MN, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, D.C. All employees are required to have permanent residency in one of these states. Candidates based in the Bay Area, New York City, and Knoxville, Tennessee will be give priority consideration. For these locations, the position will follow a hybrid work model, with 3 days per week in office and the remaining days working from home.

Job Title: Senior Manager, Commercial-Facing

Generate Real-World Insights Across The Clinical Development Cycle

You will report directly to the Chief Data & Science Officer and work with not only the Data & Science team but also our commercial services group, medical advisors, and the business development team. As Verana Health reinvents how research happens with data and technology in the healthcare space, we are working to solve complex real-world problems across multiple therapeutic areas, including urology, ophthalmology, and oncology. We are looking for a Senior Manager with experience interfacing with life science companies in support of commercial projects leveraging real-world data spanning a variety of use cases across the clinical development cycle. Direct experience working with ophthalmology, urology, and/or oncology clinical data is considered a plus.

Why This Role Matters:

As a Senior Manager working with our Life Science customers, you will help drive insights and consultative support on data products directly accessed by commercial partners. In addition to working on projects, you will manage 4-5 members of the team. What You Get to Do:

Verana Health is looking for a Senior Manager with a background in epidemiology and/or biostatistics, specifically in observational data, and experience managing a team executing on research studies as well as experience collaborating directly with life science companies.

  • Serve as a player-coach in terms of providing people management as well as being a hands-on individual contributor for critical commercial retrospective clinical studies, which includes owning the development of the protocols, methodology and statistical analysis plans as well as driving results interpretation and read-outs
  • Enable discussions with life science customers to understand project objectives and stakeholder needs in order to align with Verana’s offerings
  • Serve as a point of escalation for direct reports within the Data and Science team for analytic services projects
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 4–5 scientists supporting client-facing analytic engagements
  • Demonstrated expertise designing observational analyses using real-world data
  • Direct experience working with teams embedded within life science organizations (e.g., HEOR, medical affairs, commercial)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams (e.g., Commercial, Product, Medical, Engineering/Technology, etc.) to translate clinical investigation questions into detailed data analytics requirements for internal and external projects

Skills and Experience that Will Help You Succeed:

  • Master’s or doctorate in a quantitative discipline (e.g., biostatistics, epidemiology, health economics, etc.) or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years working with life science/pharmaceutical/biotechnology organizations and familiarity with providing analytic services to these groups, including solution scoping, project delivery, and stakeholder managements
  • Experience managing teams executing observational research studies and client-facing analytic engagements
  • Expertise applying biostatistical and/or epidemiologic methods to observational healthcare data
  • Experience working with clinical and/or real-world datasets and understanding the broader healthcare data landscape
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical industry strategy and business processes, including clinical development, medical affairs, and commercialization workflows
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience engaging executive-level stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience mentoring and developing high-performing analytical or scientific teams
