About This Role

As a Senior IT Systems Engineer at Verkada, you will be responsible for driving technical ownership and delivering advanced solutions across our corporate cloud infrastructure and identity management systems. You'll leverage deep expertise to build complex automations, enhance security, and streamline integrations beyond traditional tooling, utilizing platforms such as AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, and Okta Workflows. We're looking for a proactive team player who embraces accountability, thrives on collaboration, and is passionate about creating robust, secure, and scalable systems to meet the evolving demands of our internal teams and business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of sophisticated identity management, endpoint management, and security infrastructure, ensuring compliance and optimal user experiences.
  • Design, build, and optimize complex automations leveraging advanced scripting and serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and Google Cloud Functions.
  • Architect, implement, and support integrations using platforms like Workato, Okta Workflows, or equivalent tools to automate critical business processes.
  • Own and enforce the implementation of system and security policies aligned with best practices and industry compliance standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional technical teams, including Security, Engineering, Business Systems, and People Operations, to design scalable and secure solutions.
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting and Tier 3 support for highly complex technical issues.
  • Develop comprehensive runbooks, scripts, and detailed technical documentation to support ongoing operations.
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities to refine system architecture, automate workflows, and improve overall system efficiency.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in IT systems engineering, infrastructure, IT security, or related technical roles.
  • Advanced technical expertise in identity management, SCIM integrations, and comprehensive user lifecycle management with significant experience in Okta or similar platforms.
  • Strong proficiency with scripting and programming, especially using Python for automations in AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Functions.
  • Extensive experience developing integrations and automations with tools such as Workato or other enterprise-grade automation platforms.
  • Solid familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure), including networking fundamentals, security best practices, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) methodologies.
  • Expertise in configuration management and policy automation tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated capability in independently managing complex projects from initial concept through completion and ongoing documentation.
  • Highly collaborative, with a proven record of effectively partnering across teams to drive technical excellence.
  • Committed to being onsite 4-5 days per week to facilitate effective collaboration and technical oversight.

Annual Pay Range

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs)

Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).
