Service Desk Intern

We are looking for creative problem solvers who are passionate about technology and drawing on their knowledge to provide exceptional technical support. You will be part of an intimate and dynamic team of technologists supporting next-generation technologies at an established financial services firm. We’re curious, proactive, and have a bias for action.

The Davidson Kempner internship offers students an excellent opportunity to gain tangible experience in a global investment management firm. Internship placements will last 12 months, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build their practical skillset working in our Technology department. 

To be successful in this role, you will need to have an independent mindset and enjoy working in a collaborative, team environment. Being able to think through complex technical incidents in real time, having strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrating sound judgement are also expected.

  • Support the Service Desk team in managing our IT Service Management system, Freshservice.
  • Maintain the integrity of computer workstations and associated software
  • Support with IT hardware moves, technology projects, technology deployments, and software/ hardware upgrades
  • Onboard new users by provisioning their systems and hardware
  • Assist with technology rollouts, user training, and user experience initiatives
  • Set up and troubleshoot video conferences and coordinate webcasts
  • Develop a deeper practical application by immersing yourself in our technological systems
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with your manager and team members to deliver world-class service to the team's stakeholders
  • Gain firsthand experience and elevate your knowledge of software development by shadowing our Developers

­As an intern, you will need to be comfortable working with the following tech stack:

  • Microsoft operating platforms, Windows 10
  • Office 365 administration
  • InTune mobile device management
  • Active Directory management
  • Mac OSx and iOSx
  • Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp
  • Powershell and Python scripting
  • PC hardware
  • Video and audio-conferencing platforms
  • Image and configuration management
  • Financial Services applications
  • Market Data applications

In addition, the ideal candidate will also have experience with the following:

  • Currently pursuing a diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in technology, engineering, or a related field.
  • A passion for technology and an interest in providing exceptional technical support.
  • Have a curious nature, enjoy problem solving, and find pragmatic approaches to solutions.
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and teamwork skills ideally demonstrated through extracurricular activities or previous work experience.
