Role Description:

We are looking for meticulous, driven and innovative individuals with strong communication and project management abilities, and a commitment to a career in alternatives capital raising, to join our US Institutional Sales team in New York.  This position will involve collaborating closely with members of the entire Client Partnership & Business Development team and various other departments throughout the firm, providing significant opportunities for professional growth and active engagement with the firm’s commercial decision-making. The role includes building and sustaining relationships with clients and potential clients, promoting the firm’s diverse investment capabilities, and it will situate the hire in a highly collegial and inclusive environment.

In joining the team, the hire will work alongside our senior salespeople, focused on building and maintaining connections with investors and potential clients.  The hire will become increasingly personally accountable for client and business development over time.  The role involves promptly addressing inquiries, and keeping investors updated on the firm's developments. A vital part of the role will be to thoroughly understand the firm's investment capabilities, performance, products, people and market dynamics, along with gaining deep insights into the clients' and prospects' businesses and their relationship with Davidson Kempner.

The hires will:

  • Coordinate and attend calls and meetings with clients and prospects and assist with follow-up as needed
  • Respond to incoming calls and information requests from clients and prospects
  • Assist with researching and tracking prospective investors as well as existing investors for cross-selling opportunities
  • Work with sales team to manage investor pipeline for various fundraising efforts
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects as directed by the team and provide back-up to team members as needed
  • Help to translate complex position and performance information into clear, succinct and digestible material for the investor base
  • Communicate with investment teams to understand product and performance details
  • Partner with others on product development opportunities, firm branding, positioning and communications
  • Successful candidates will be able to engage with both investors and prospective investors on our firm and strategies, and will need to answer any questions they have (essentially, acting as the “Face of the Firm” for Davidson Kempner over time)

 

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Likely to have 8+ years of financial services experience – will be well-versed in financial concepts, products and lingo
  • Will have worked in a sales/product specialist/client relationship position in the investment industry
  • Experience in alternatives required, ideally of a relevant product suite
  • Outstanding writing skills and ability to communicate product-level details in a clear, accurate and sophisticated manner, teamed with proven project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to examine investment data with a critical eye
  • Extreme detail orientation, resourcefulness and strong organizational skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, is thoughtful, has passion for research and strong problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and successfully multi-task while maintaining a team-first attitude
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively with colleagues of differing levels of seniority from around the business
  • An enterprising, driven individual with a business mindset who excels in challenging and team-oriented settings, is positive, proactive and has grit and tenacity, is committed to professional advancement
  • BS/BA required

US Base Salary Range

$215,000 - $215,000 USD
