Position Overview

The Director of Digital Marketing is at the center of 10x Genomics’ digital marketing engine, delivering measurable business impact and innovating across channels to ensure leadership in scientific markets. This position reports to the Vice President of Integrated Marketing Communications as is responsible for the planning, execution, and optimization of all digital marketing initiatives—including the website, SEO, SEM/paid media, email campaigns, webinars, and digital advertising. This strategic yet hands-on leader is accountable for driving measurable growth, exceptional digital engagement, and seamless user experiences that support product launches, demand generation, and brand building.

What you will be doing:

  • Digital Channel Strategy & Management
    • Develop and own the digital marketing strategy, aligning with campaign objectives and business goals.
    • Oversee and optimize the 10x Genomics website—including content updates, landing pages, conversion paths, and ongoing user experience improvements—partnering with Creative and Content teams.
    • Lead SEO strategy and execution, including technical SEO, content optimization, and performance tracking to maximize organic discovery and site rankings.
    • Own SEM and paid advertising campaigns (Google Ads, LinkedIn, retargeting, and other platforms), from campaign design and budget allocation to continuous performance optimization.
  • Email & Webinar Campaigns
    • Design and execute integrated email marketing programs that nurture leads, promote launches, and deliver targeted content across the sales funnel.
    • Develop audience segments, A/B test copy and creative, oversee template management, and report on email engagement and conversion metrics.
    • Manage end-to-end webinar program logistics (topic selection, promotion, tech platform, speaker coordination, registration, analytics), ensuring seamless execution and measurable pipeline impact.
  • Paid Media & Digital Campaigns
    • Launch and manage digital advertising across search, social, and relevant digital channels to drive awareness, consideration, and conversion.
    • Collaborate with Campaign, Content, and Creative leads to ensure digital campaigns are on message, on brand, and optimized for all funnel stages.
    • Monitor channel and ad performance daily, making rapid adjustments to optimize cost per lead/acquisition and maximize campaign ROI.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Optimization
    • Serve as the digital SME on integrated campaign teams; advise on digital best practices, channel selection, and performance forecasting.
    • Work closely with Marketing Ops and Analytics to track results, build dashboards, and conduct performance reviews (site traffic, email/webinar engagement, MQL volume, digital ROI, etc.).
    • Stay current on life science/technology marketing trends, new digital tools, MarTech advances, and changing platform policies.
  • Compliance, Quality, and Innovation
    • Ensure all web, email, and digital activities comply with relevant GDPR/privacy and regulatory guidelines.
    • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, testing, and innovation—bringing new ideas, tools, and tactics to maintain digital leadership in the field.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated mastery of digital marketing across: web/UX, SEO (on-page/technical), SEM/paid search, digital display, and paid social.
  • Deep experience with email marketing platforms, audience segmentation, marketing automation, and webinar/event marketing technology.
  • Track record managing and optimizing digital advertising budgets (> $500K/year preferred) with strong ROI and reporting results.
  • Strong analytic mindset; skilled in Google Analytics, tag management, CRM, UTM tracking, and performance dashboarding.
  • Working knowledge of web content management (CMS), HTML, basic CSS, and digital creative/production workflows.
  • Expert project and vendor management; able to prioritize, delegate, and deliver multiple programs and campaigns.
  • High attention to detail, solution-oriented, and data-driven.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills—comfortable interfacing with technical, creative, and business stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7 years in digital marketing roles spanning web, SEO/SEM, digital ads, email, webinars/events 
  • 2 years of experience in a team or project leadership capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Media, Life Sciences, or related field

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • B2B life sciences or technology strongly preferred
  • Master’s degree a plus
  • Experience delivering digital strategy and reporting in highly regulated, global, or complex product environments is a plus
  • Local to the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate preferred

Below is the base pay range for this full-time position.  The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.  At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package.  This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program. $215,600 - $291,600 USD
