Regional Marketing Manager (Japan)

As the Regional Marketing Manager (RMM) you will be responsible for conducting business analysis, developing Japan's marketing strategies, and planning, designing and executing marketing activities for Japan.

Ideally you will have good technical knowledge in the area of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), Single Cell Genomics, Spatial Biology and have demonstrated experience localizing marketing programs for related markets.

You’ll interact cross functionally with members from the regional commercial sales and global marketing teams, acting as a liaison to provide global marketing with regional market and customer feedback. You will also serve as the central point of contact for territorial market planning,implementation, new product launch and regional market development.

Key skill sets include regional marketing, program localization, sales enablement, lead generation/nurture and tactical marketing.

What you will be doing:

Strategic Marketing & Localization

  • Campaign Execution: Regionalize, localize, and deploy core global marketing programs in Japan to meet or exceed district business objectives.
  • Tactical Planning: Translate global strategic plans into actionable regional tactical plans; select appropriate program tactics and manage all outbound aspects of new product launches.
  • Content Management: Own the content reuse and localization process, ensuring all regional marketing aligns with core company messaging themes.
  • Lead Generation: Collaborate with regional MarCom members to define event and digital strategies that drive demand, nurture leads, and expand the marketing funnel.

Global & APAC Collaboration (Market Intelligence)

  • Feedback Loop: Act as the single point of contact between Japan regional channels and the global marketing team, delivering regional market intelligence and customer insights.
  • Compliance & Expertise: Maintain deep knowledge of key accounts, KOLs, and centers of excellence in Japan; educate global marketing on local regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Resource Optimization: Share program resources across APAC and identify opportunities to reuse global and regional programs for the Japan market.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with both regional and global marketing teams to develop program metrics, effective tactics, and unified regional messaging.

Sales Enablement & Commercial Support

  • Sales Tools: Develop impactful sales tools and training materials to help regional sales teams and distributors achieve their goals.
  • New Product Introduction: Deliver new product training to the sales team and coordinate all cross-functional preparation for successful regional product launches.
  • Pipeline Accountability: Partner closely with district sales teams to improve the size and quality of marketing leads in Salesforce CRM and ensure pipeline goal achievement across the district.

Metrics & Operations

  • ROI Tracking: Measure and evaluate the impact of marketing programs, track assigned spend, and establish local/regional operational processes and systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field 
  • Extensive knowledge of Next Gen Sequencing or Spatial Biology markets, products & marketing channels in Japan
  • Multi-year experience in the Life Science industry, preferably in a regional marketing environment
  • Key competencies in marketing required: customer segmentation (i.e., needs assessments, profiles, personas, buying journeys), marketing program development and execution, program evaluation (metric framework)
  • Knowledge of sales pipeline and how to positively impact funnel conversion rates
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with strong business judgment and an ability to present analysis in a clear and compelling manner
  • An independent self-starter who operates with a high degree of autonomy, able to pivot quickly; adaptive, can effectively operate/deal with ambiguity
  • Highly organized individual who can meet challenging deadlines in a fast-paced environment and able to collaborate across multiple disciplines
  • Demonstrated communication excellence, with excellent Japanese & English communication skills (written / oral / presentation) to effectively engage with both local stakeholders and global teams.
  • Frequent travel required, expected to be up to 50% of the time

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • MSc or PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with multi-year industry experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint), G-Suite, and Salesforce CRM (SFDC)
