143 Studios, the production team behind Mel Robbins, is seeking a versatile and technically skilled Marketing Automation Manager to lead the management and optimization of email marketing and marketing automation systems. This role is critical in expanding newsletter campaigns through sophisticated audience segmentation, data hygiene, campaign calendaring, and engagement optimization. This unique role requires a candidate with a blend of marketing automation expertise, data synchronization management, and email campaign strategy. 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of scaling the email program and ensuring seamless execution of data-driven campaigns. As part of our growing team, you will be responsible for optimizing the backend data hygiene, managing integrations between email marketing systems and CRM platforms, and executing high-impact email campaigns. 

This is a multi-faceted role that will evolve as the company grows. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong technical acumen, a deep understanding of email marketing best practices, and the ability to manage both data-driven processes and creative campaign execution.


Key Responsibilities:

Email Automation & Data Management:

  • Manage and optimize marketing automation processes, including the integration between the email marketing platform (currently Customer.io) and future CRM system to ensure seamless data synchronization, accurate list segmentation, and real-time updates across systems.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and ability to work with extremely large email subscriber lists, data sets, and large-scale email sends. 
  • Oversee all data hygiene and list management practices to ensure clean, actionable email lists, monitoring for duplicates, unsubscribes, and other data anomalies.
  • Implement and manage tokenization of content inserts for email personalization to ensure dynamic content can be delivered across multiple segments. 
  • Create and manage workspace hierarchies, campaign workflows, and data structures within the email marketing platform, ensuring efficient organization and smooth execution of campaigns.
  • Collaborate with IT or external partners to implement CRM integrations, supporting marketing automation efforts and data tracking between systems.
  • Support potential future transitions to new email platforms, ensuring seamless integration and continuity in campaign execution. 

Campaign Management:

  • Own the email campaign calendar and ensure timely execution of campaigns, from planning to deployment, with a focus on maintaining a cohesive strategy that aligns with business goals.
  • Collaborate with the content and creative teams to develop email copy and visual assets, ensuring they are optimized for engagement and aligned with the brand voice.

Data-Driven Insights and Reporting

  • Execute A/B testing strategies for subject lines, copy, design elements, and CTAs to continuously improve campaign performance.
  • Work closely with Analytics team to monitor and analyze email campaign performance, creating detailed reports that outline key metrics (open rates, CTR, conversions) and insights for continuous improvement.
  • Lead the analysis and development of segmentation strategies that enhance personalized content delivery and increase engagement. 

Template Management & Design:

  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of email templates, ensuring a consistent look and feel across all campaigns, in line with brand guidelines.
  • Work with designers and developers (internal or external) to implement responsive email designs that function well across various devices and platforms.
  • Ensure emails are optimized for deliverability, accessibility, and a seamless user experience.

Best Practices & Optimization:

  • Stay up-to-date with email marketing best practices, trends, and industry regulations (such as CAN-SPAM, GDPR) to ensure compliance and optimize performance.
  • Regularly review and refine segmentation strategies, targeting, and messaging to maximize engagement and minimize churn.
  • Serve as the in-house expert on email marketing trends and performance analytics, continuously seeking out new tools and approaches to improve campaign outcomes.

Collaboration & Growth:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including creative, content, and marketing operations, to ensure seamless execution of email marketing initiatives.
  • Partner with the Head of Marketing to develop the long-term email marketing strategy and ensure alignment with broader business goals.
  • This role will evolve as the company grows, with the Marketing Automation Manager playing a key role in scaling email marketing efforts.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in email marketing, with a strong background in marketing automation platforms (Customer.io, HubSpot, Marketo, or similar).
  • Experience managing data synchronization between email systems and CRM platforms, with a strong understanding of data hygiene, list management, and segmentation strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex email campaigns, including campaign calendaring, copy management, and template creation.
  • Expertise in email best practices, including A/B testing, deliverability optimization, and compliance with regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret campaign performance data and optimize for future campaigns.
  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS for email design is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with CRM systems, marketing automation workflows, and integrating data from multiple platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

We do not offer sponsorship. Candidate must be based in Massachusetts as this is a hybrid role.
