Why you want this job

You’ll play a hands-on role in ensuring quality for the 1-800 Contacts core website — the storefront where millions of customers purchase their contacts. This site is our flagship product and directly impacts the customer experience, revenue, and brand trust. You’ll test new features, ensure the storefront works flawlessly across devices, and help us deliver a seamless shopping experience.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team where your work has a direct, visible impact on the business and our customers.

What you’ll do

  • Design and execute test strategies and plans for medium-to-large features
  • Perform manual testing for new functionality while growing automation coverage
  • Build and maintain UI and API automated tests (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium)
  • Validate quality using logs, SQL queries, and monitoring tools (e.g., Application Insights)
  • Test web flows across multiple browsers, devices, and responsive layouts
  • Collaborate with developers on testability, CI/CD quality gates, and defect prevention
  • Mentor and provide feedback to junior QEs, sharing best practices and reusable assets
  • Promote continuous improvement in team testing practices
  • Contribute to observability by setting up alerts, dashboards, and production validation checks
  • Ensure accessibility standards (WCAG) and performance baselines are considered in testing

What you'll need

  • 3+ years of professional QA engineering experience in a software/tech environment
  • Experience with UI and REST API manual and automated testing (Cypress, Playwright, Selenium)
  • Ability to independently write and maintain automated test cases
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python or JavaScript) for test automation
  • Experience testing across browsers and devices
  • Strong collaboration skills in an Agile environment
  • Ability to analyze logs and data for debugging and validation

Nice to have

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and adding automated quality gates
  • Proficiency with SQL for complex data validation
  • Familiarity with Application Insights or other monitoring tools
  • Exposure to accessibility testing (WCAG, screen readers, ARIA validation)
  • Experience in performance or security testing
  • Experience mentoring junior QEs or contributing to a quality community
