The Opportunity

As a thought-leader in the AI space, you will spearhead the AI and data strategy across the 1848 Ventures organization, ensuring alignment with our strategic vision and operational goals. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the development of transformative AI capabilities and robust data strategies that serve as the foundation for the ventures we create, reducing risk and enhancing the profitability of the SMBs we empower.

What You’ll Do

  • Set the Vision: Create and implement a visionary AI and data strategy that defines the future of 1848 Ventures. By identifying high-impact opportunities and establishing priorities, you’ll create a roadmap that drives long-term value for the ventures we build. Your insights will form the foundation for innovative solutions.
  • Lead Innovation: Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies and trends, overseeing the development and deployment of cutting-edge solutions. From machine learning models to robust data systems, you’ll ensure our AI applications are scalable, effective, and ethically sound.
  • Collaborate and Influence: Collaboration will be at the heart of your success, as you partner with organizational leaders and cross-functional teams to identify and implement AI solutions that meet business needs. Through thoughtful communication and education, you’ll inspire teams across the organization to embrace a culture of data literacy and innovation.
  • Build the Team: Building and nurturing a high-performing team of AI experts and data professionals will be a cornerstone of your work. With your guidance, the team will continuously explore new possibilities, delivering advanced solutions that transform industries while upholding the highest standards of data governance, security, and compliance.
  • Drive Data Management and Governance: drive data management and governance by establishing ethical AI practices, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance. Your leadership will optimize infrastructure and pipelines for seamless data collection, transformation, and integration, enabling high-impact AI applications..
  • Oversee AI Development and Deployment: oversee the creation of cutting-edge models and guide their responsible implementation. From design to production, you’ll ensure performance is monitored and continuously improved while addressing fairness and ethical considerations.
  • Ensure Compliance and Risk Management: ensure adherence to regulations and proactively mitigate risks and biases, reinforcing trust and reliability in our AI systems.

Who You Are

You are a proven leader with 10+ years of SaaS experience driving AI/ML and data science, including executive roles driving AI and data strategies at scale. Your expertise blends technical depth with strategic insight, and you thrive at the intersection of business and technology.

  • Advanced degree preferred (Ph.D. or Master’s) in computer science, data science, or a related field, with a track record of delivering innovative, impactful results.
  • Skilled at managing and mentoring teams, both directly and indirectly, while aligning cross-functional efforts with organizational goals.
  • Hands-on expertise in designing AI prototypes and conducting experiments, with the ability to guide frameworks for production-ready solutions.
  • Exceptional communicator, equally comfortable engaging technical teams and executive stakeholders to drive alignment and shared vision.
  • Passionate about ethical AI practices, data integrity, and ensuring security and compliance across systems.
  • Forward-thinking and up-to-date on emerging AI trends, attending conferences and driving thought leadership to enhance organizational impact and visibility.

Travel

This role is remote or hybrid, based on your location. While flexibility is key, we also value in-person connections. Whether you're remote or hybrid, travel may be needed for customer discovery, team building, and/or networking.
