Head of Growth — 1906

New York

About 1906:

We started 1906 because we believe cannabis is the greatest medicine on earth. Our goal is to make cannabis a trusted, normal part of daily wellness with products that are easy to understand and easy to fit into your life and offer the most healthful format of cannabis available. 1906 is named for the last time cannabis was widely accepted as a beneficial medicine. The Wiley Act was enacted the following year, beginning nearly a century of misguided cannabis prohibition with devastating consequences. We say it’s high time to make cannabis accessible and understandable for all—for the greater good (and the greater fun).

Head of Growth — 1906

Location:
Remote (Preference for East Coast candidates; must work East Coast hours)
Reports to: Chief Marketing Officer
Compensation: $165,000 - $200,000 base salary + performance bonus

About 1906

1906 is redefining the cannabis and functional beverage industries with fast-acting, innovative products that combine plant medicine and science for real results. We’re building the future of cannabis edibles and THC-infused beverages, offering consumers smarter, more effective alternatives to alcohol and pharmaceuticals.

We don’t follow trends — we set them. Our culture rewards bold thinking, speed, and accountability. If you’re ready to build something disruptive in one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, this is it.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a high-performing, data-driven operator to lead DTC growth at 1906. As Head of Growth, you’ll architect and execute the strategy to scale our DTC business from $10M+ to $50M+ by 2027—owning acquisition, retention, conversion, and the full digital commerce experience.

This role comes with full P&L ownership for DTC and the mandate to build a scalable, profitable growth engine. You’ll lead paid media, lifecycle marketing, website optimization, affiliate, and influencer channels—turning insights into action to drive revenue, LTV, and efficiency.

This is not a strategy-only leadership role. You’re a full-stack growth marketer who can toggle between building systems and executing the work yourself—whether that’s optimizing campaigns, developing landing pages, or troubleshooting conversion funnels.

The ideal candidate has scaled a DTC brand to $50M+, is fluent in Shopify and Klaviyo, and brings a proven track record of delivering results.

Who You Are (and Why We’ll Love You)

  • You’re a full-stack growth marketer who toggles between strategy and execution—and thrives in a roll-up-your-sleeves environment where no task is too small if it drives growth.
  • You excel in fast-paced, high-growth environments where you can move quickly and own results.
  • You’re passionate about functional wellness, cannabis, non-alcoholic beverages, or other therapeutic products.
  • You’re a high-performing individual contributor who knows how to both build systems and do the work yourself.
  • You’re data-driven, performance-obsessed, and relentlessly focused on revenue, LTV, and efficiency.
  • You have the confidence and curiosity to test, learn, and scale what works—fast.
  • You’re collaborative, accountable, and energized by building something disruptive.

Responsibilities

Growth Strategy & P&L Ownership

  • Architect and execute a full-funnel, multi-channel growth strategy aligned with revenue, LTV, and profitability goals.
  • Maintain full ownership of the DTC P&L, including forecasting, budgeting, KPI reporting, and agile resource reallocation.
  • Lead all growth initiatives with a relentless focus on ROI, CAC efficiency, and long-term customer value.
  • Identify and activate creative, cost-effective growth levers beyond paid media.

Performance Marketing & Paid Media

  • Own paid media strategy and execution across Meta, Google, affiliate, and influencer channels.
  • Manage large-scale media budgets with a focus on CAC efficiency and scalable, profitable growth.
  • Partner with creative teams and agency partners to drive high-velocity testing—briefing, validating, and scaling creative that performs.
  • Own the feedback loop between paid performance and creative production to ensure constant improvement.
  • Pilot new acquisition channels and emerging platforms, moving quickly to capitalize on first-mover advantages.
  • Analyze performance data to uncover opportunities, improve channel efficiency, and inform future media planning.

Retention & Lifecycle

  • Own performance and strategy for retention, lifecycle, and LTV growth across email, SMS, and subscription.
  • Develop segmented, automated flows that drive engagement, repeat purchases, and subscriber retention.
  • Increase subscription take rate and reduce churn through personalized journeys, bundling, loyalty programs, and reactivation campaigns.
  • Ensure lifecycle touchpoints reflect 1906’s brand, voice, and customer insights while driving measurable business outcomes.
  • Track and report on cohort health, LTV, churn, and repurchase rates—refining retention strategy as needed.

Website & CRO

  • Own the strategic roadmap for our DTC site, aligning content updates, landing page priorities, product launches, and merchandising with growth goals.
  • Identify and prioritize high-impact experiments focused on increasing CVR, AOV, and LTV.
  • Lead landing page strategy and optimization across campaigns and product launches to maximize performance and storytelling.

Team Leadership

  • Manage agency partners and lead a lean, high-performing growth team across paid media, lifecycle, CRO, affiliate, and influencer.
  • Develop clear priorities, maximize output, and hold teams accountable to performance goals.
  • Mentor talent and set a high bar for ownership, accountability, and results.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with creative, finance, tech, customer service, and operations to align efforts across the entire growth engine.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in growth, digital marketing, or eCommerce, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
  • Proven success scaling a DTC business to $50M+ in revenue.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with Shopify and Klaviyo.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage $10M+ annual marketing budgets.
  • Strong background in paid media (Meta, Google), retention (email/SMS), CRO, and creative testing.
  • Exceptional business instincts and analytical rigor with a bias for action.
  • Proficiency in data tools (e.g., Northbeam, Triple Whale, Looker, GA4) and marketing automation platforms.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with the CPG, wellness, or lifestyle space preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $165,000 - $200,000 base salary
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage (100% premium paid for health for employee coverage)
  • 401(k) plan
  • Unlimited paid time off
  • Significant growth opportunity in a $100B+ industry by 2030

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
