Sr. Analyst/ Associate, Project Finance

You will be working with Dr. Tom Buttgenbach, a clean energy technology innovator and entrepreneur who has been a driving force in making solar-based energy solutions the cheapest and most reliable energy option. Tom founded and led Avantus (formerly known as “8minute Solar Energy“), to become one of the largest and most profitable solar and energy storage companies in the United States and the largest in California, including delivering over 10% of Los Angeles’ power.  When Tom sold his interest in Avantus’ development business  to KKR in mid-2024, it had delivered over $1 billion in profit and secured over $10 Billion in power purchase agreements and project financings with a pipeline of over 30 GW of solar and 90 GWh of energy storage, capable of powering the homes of more than 20 million Americans day and night. Job Responsibilities:

• Financial Modeling & Analysis: Develop, maintain, and refine complex financial models for solar projects, incorporating tax equity, debt financing, and project cash flows.
• Due Diligence: Assist in evaluating project risks, financial feasibility, and investment returns, conducting due diligence on market conditions, regulatory factors, and project economics.
• Transaction Support: Support the execution of project finance transactions, including debt structuring, tax equity financing, and corporate financing initiatives.
• Investor & Lender Engagement: Assist in preparing presentations, term sheets, and investment materials for lenders, investors, and stakeholders.
• Market Research: Conduct research on industry trends, policy changes, and competitive landscape to support strategic decision-making.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with internal teams, including development, legal, and engineering, to ensure projects are financially optimized and successfully executed.
• Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, private equity, or renewable energy finance.
• Strong proficiency in financial modeling (Excel), DCF analysis, and project valuation techniques.
• Familiarity with tax equity structures, debt financing, and renewable energy incentives (ITC, PTC, etc.).
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Passion for renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven experience leading and managing high-performing teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with project finance for renewable energy projects (solar preferred).
• Experience with financial modeling software.
• Strong understanding of ESG principles and sustainability reporting.
• Experience working in a fast-growing and dynamic environment.
