About the Role
21Shares is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our expanding Finance team based in New York City. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, innovative company at the forefront of digital asset investment. As a key member of a collaborative and high-performing team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations while gaining hands-on experience and exposure to global accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute month-end close processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, and related deliverables.
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable to complete cash reconciliations within our ERP system.
- Prepare supporting documentation for external audits and regulatory examinations.
- Maintain accurate accounting and process documentation for areas such as revenue, expenses, cash, fixed assets, prepaids, and accruals.
- Prepare and/or review fund financial statements, oversee periodic regulatory filings, and manage relationships with external auditors.
- Draft technical accounting memos and ensure adherence to IFRS and US GAAP standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate recognition and analysis of revenue and revenue share.
- Account for trust-related fund expenses and support tax reporting and compliance.
- Assist in financial and product profitability analysis.
- Support fund-related due diligence processes and counterparty risk assessments.
- Maintain up-to-date internal control documentation and risk assessments.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with the FP&A team and provide support for budgeting and forecasting.
- Assist with ad hoc projects and strategic finance initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or auditing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of GAAP and IFRS principles.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable with a willingness to take initiative.
- Experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems is a plus.
- Prior experience in financial services or asset management is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other productivity tools.
- A genuine interest in cryptocurrencies and the digital asset space.
This role is based in New York City and will be expected to work from our New York office in a hybrid model Monday - Wednesday.

Pursuant to Section 8-102 of title 8 of the New York City administrative code, the base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $115,000. Total compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
