What We Need:

2K is looking for a Sr. Manager, Digital Community Relations to guide a team of community experts in driving the community management vision, strategy, and execution across our portfolio of 2K Core Games projects, including Borderlands, Mafia, Civilization, and additional properties as needed.  In this position, you are the voice of the community, and will work closely with your direct reports, along with Studio Partners and 2K Global Marketing teams, serving as the player advocate to help define and drive community building and engagement, social ideation and strategy, and Influencer Engagement and Growth plans for our passionate players. 
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Digital Community Marketing, the ideal candidate will be a gaming enthusiast with a passion for the 2K Core Games portfolio of franchises and have expert knowledge of gaming genres ranging from narrative action, strategy, and looter-shooter, as well as possess a deep drive for activating and growing communities in innovative and impactful ways.

What You’ll Do:

Digital Community Relations (Voice of the Consumer):

  • Partner across the Core Games franchise groups (Global Brand Marketing, Social, Influencer, Communications, Product) and our Studio partners, to champion the needs and wants of our players and help improve our game experiences.
  • Create a feedback loop for title communities and brainstorm ways to cross-leverage and promote our players and their needs to the 2K Marketing teams and Studio stakeholders.
  • Assist the marketing, social, and communication teams with coordination and execution of various marketing requests of the development team.

Community Growth Strategy (Influencing our Marketing):

  • Collaborate with cross-functional publishing partners (Global Brand Marketing, Communications, Product Development, Partnerships & Licensing, Legal, and the Studio) in defining and authoring the community growth strategies for our beloved communities across the studio portfolio and the platforms where our experiences are featured.
  • Develop and execute against key Social, Community and Influencer programs that celebrate and promote our passionate fan base for the advocates that they are, stoking the core and incentivizing new fans to join and grow our communities.
  • Identify key creator opportunities that can both engage and grow our communities in the most creative and positive ways possible.
  • Ladder up all community activations in support of the master Global Marketing Strategies for our titles.
  • Define and Report on key Campaign community engagement and growth performance metrics, providing regular performance analysis and reporting on player sentiment, needs, and wants.

Leadership, Collaboration and Communication:

  • Lead, develop, and grow a team of Community managers, defining clear roles and responsibilities, overseeing day-to-day workflows, supporting career development, and guiding progress toward team OKRs.
  • Serve as a strategic cross-functional partner, advocating for players and negotiating effectively on their behalf.
  • Communicate Community strategies, insights, and recommendations to studio leadership and 2K stakeholders, regularly presenting plans, performance results, and player-focused findings that shape product and marketing roadmaps.

What Will Make You a Great Fit:

  • You have 6 - 8 years working in a comparable digital community building and/or social role within gaming, media or entertainment.
  • Innate knowledge, experience, and passion for engaging and growing core entertainment communities, developing meaningful ground floor relationships that create fans for life.
  • Thorough understanding of community listening & analytics, utilizing third party tools such as Sprinklr, Tubular, and Meltwater, in addition to platform native analytics tools within Steam, Discord, Youtube, etc.
  • Deep understanding of social media platform nuances, as well as the creator and influencer ecosystem (especially TikTok, Reddit, Twitch, YouTube, Discord).
  • Knowledge of global streaming platforms and creative vision for how to leverage them for Gearbox.
  • Highly collaborative with others, contributing creative and innovative ideas for engaging and growing our community!
  • Outgoing, intellectually curious and can proactively reach out to people to build key relationships.
  • You are willing to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
  • You are highly organized, timely and communicative.
  • Have extensive knowledge of the video game landscape, with specific knowledge of Borderlands, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Gearbox Publishing, and the Looter-Shooter genre of franchises.
  • You can aggregate, synthesize, and analyze data, communicating key learnings cross-functionally.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $150,400 and $222,580 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program. Regular, full-time employees are also eligible for a range of benefits at the Company, including: medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage; 14 paid holidays per calendar year; paid vacation time per calendar year (ranging from 15 to 25 days) or eligibility to participate in the Company’s discretionary time off program; up to 10 paid sick days per calendar year; paid parental and compassionate leave; wellbeing programs for mental health and other wellness support; family planning support through Maven; commuter benefits; and reimbursements for fitness-related expenses.
