Position Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer is a high-level individual contributor specializing in Perforce Helix Core to support, enhance, and optimize critical source control infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of the Perforce environment through proactive management, advanced automation, and deep collaboration with software development and tools engineering teams. The Senior Systems Engineer balances complex operational requirements with long-term strategic projects, providing technical leadership and clear communication across multiple global teams to drive continuous infrastructure improvement.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Optimization: Maintain, monitor, and optimize Perforce Helix Core infrastructure to ensure high availability, peak performance, and enterprise-grade security.

  • System Administration: Oversee complex server configurations, triggers, permissions, and multi-tool integrations to support global development workflows.

  • Reliability & Data Integrity: Architect and implement industry best practices for system reliability, data integrity, comprehensive backup strategies, and disaster recovery protocols.

  • Workflow Collaboration: Partner with development and tools engineering teams to design and refine synchronization strategies, repository organization, and CI/CD integration.

  • Technical Support & Training: Act as the subject matter expert providing high-level support, troubleshooting, and specialized training for development teams utilizing Perforce.

  • Documentation: Develop and maintain sophisticated documentation regarding system architecture, operational procedures, and evolving technical processes.

  • Performance Management: Proactively monitor system resource utilization and performance metrics to identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks before they impact production.

  • Automation & IaC: Drive efficiency by automating routine administrative tasks and maintaining infrastructure as code (IaC) repositories for version control environments.

  • Problem Solving: Expertly diagnoses and resolves complex system performance and operational issues in a high-pressure production environment.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Job-Related Skills

  • 4+ years of experience as a systems engineer
  • Perforce Expertise: Significant systems engineering experience specifically focused on Perforce Helix Core administration and optimization.

  • Diagnostic Skills: Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex system performance issues and maintaining high-availability environments.

  • Automation & Scripting: Proficient in using automation and scripting languages to enhance operational efficiency and reduce system downtime.

  • Infrastructure as Code: Experience managing version control environments through IaC methodologies and tools.

  • Cross-Functional Communication: Strong ability to communicate technical insights and architectural solutions to diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large-scale, multi-site game development environments.

  • Familiarity with integrating Perforce into automated build systems (e.g., Unreal Engine Horde, Jenkins).
