What We Need
Hangar 13 is in search of an Associate Technical Artist to support creation and maintenance of procedural tools and assets.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Collaborate with senior team members to understand project requirements across art, design, and engineering disciplines
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of segments within larger procedural content pipelines
- Support the development of procedural assets to streamline art workflows, focusing on performance and scalability
What We’re Looking For
Our ideal Associate Technical Artist has both artistic and technical background that can overlap with other disciplines. We need someone who can support the conversion of ideas into functional tools that will contribute to having easily manageable and scalable systems. Our Associate Technical Artist is a clear communicator who seeks support, feedback and opportunities for improvement while understanding the basics of game engine systems and techniques.
Minimum Requirements
- Educated in Technical Art related field specifically aimed towards proceduralism
- Strong knowledge of SideFX Houdini and/or Unreal Engine PCG workflow
- Experience with a scripting language, preferably Python
- Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming
- Experience with industry standard creative software - 3DMax, Maya or Blender
- Ability to quickly understand tasks and complete them with support
- Familiar with Photoshop, Substance Painter and Substance designer
- Art skills including experience with modeling, texturing, and shading for games.
- Familiar with version control software, preferably Perforce
- Strong ability to learn new areas of development
- Strong team collaboration and communication skills
- Good time management skills.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
You Might Also Have
- Experience working in a game engine, preferably Unreal Engine 5
- Knowledge of additional scripting languages: Max Script, Java Script, VB
- Basic knowledge of C++
- Ability to multitask and work under deadlines.
- BS / BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Arts, Art or a related field preferred.
