Overview:

As the Manager of our PC Compatibility Lab, you will be an expert in PC hardware, supporting our game testing efforts, ensuring robust and efficient PC compatibility testing environment for our development teams. You will lead a team of PC technicians responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing a diverse range of PC configurations within our compatibility lab. Your deep understanding of PC hardware, operating systems, and software tools will be essential in providing a reliable and cutting-edge testing platform for our games. You will also play a key role in implementing and improving automated testing processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our quality assurance efforts.

Location: Las Vegas, NV (Onsite)

What You’ll Do:

  • Lab Management:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the PC compatibility lab, ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient working environment.

    • Manage lab resources, including hardware inventory, software licenses, and networking infrastructure.

    • Implement and enforce lab safety protocols and best practices for handling computer hardware.

  • Hardware Expertise:

    • Maintain a deep understanding of PC hardware components (CPUs, GPUs, motherboards, RAM, storage), their compatibility, and performance characteristics.

    • Stay informed about the latest PC hardware trends and emerging technologies to ensure the lab remains up-to-date.

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues, perform repairs and maintenance, and replace components as needed.

  • System Configuration and Maintenance:

    • Lead a team of PC technicians in building, configuring, and maintaining a diverse range of PC systems with different hardware specifications, operating systems, and driver versions.

    • Develop and implement standardized procedures for system setup, imaging, and deployment.

    • Ensure systems are optimized for game testing, including configuring BIOS settings, installing necessary software, and applying performance tweaks.

  • Software and Tool Management:

    • Manage and maintain software tools used for testing, including game development tools, performance monitoring software, driver update utilities, and benchmarking applications.

    • Evaluate and implement new software tools to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.

    • Provide training and support to the test team on the use of lab software and tools.

  • Automation and Testing:

    • Research, evaluate, and implement automated testing solutions for PC compatibility, including hardware monitoring, performance benchmarking, and driver compatibility testing.

    • Develop and maintain scripts and tools for automating routine lab tasks, such as system updates, data backups, and software deployments.

    • Collaborate with test engineers to integrate automated testing into the game development pipeline.

  • Inventory and Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records of lab hardware and software inventory, including specifications, configurations, and maintenance history.

    • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for lab procedures, testing protocols, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Collaboration and Support:

    • Collaborate effectively with test teams, developers, and other stakeholders to provide technical support and ensure the lab meets their testing needs.

    • Communicate status, updates, and any issues or risks to relevant teams.

 

What Will Make You A Great Fit:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.  

  • 5+ years of experience in related field (PC Hardware testing, Information Technology, System Administration)

  • Proven experience in building, configuring, and maintaining PC hardware and software.  

  • Deep understanding of PC components, operating systems, driver ecosystems, and GPU manufacturer software and features, specifically those offered by NVIDIA and AMD.

  • Experience with system administration tools and techniques.

  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies and quality assurance processes.

  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating tasks and testing.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in PC compatibility or related field.

  • Experience working in a testing or quality assurance environment.  

  • Familiarity with game development processes and tools.

  • Knowledge of performance profiling and optimization techniques.

  • Experience with virtualization technologies.

  • CompTIA A+ or other relevant certifications.
