Sr. Manager, FP&A

What We’re Looking For:
The Finance team at 2U provides strategic financial leadership and analytical support to stakeholders across the organization. We support decision-making and operational effectiveness through financial planning, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, all in service of 2U’s mission to expand access to high-quality education.
As a Senior Manager, FP&A, you will play a lead role in supporting high-impact, cross-functional initiatives across the business.This includes evaluating new initiatives, supporting business case development, driving financial modeling, and surfacing insights that inform company-wide decisions. You’ll work closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional teams to drive clarity around priorities, risks, and opportunities.
This is an ideal role for a highly analytical and proactive individual with strong business acumen and a desire to work in a mission-driven and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Strategic Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on financial strategy, investment decisions, and long-term planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process, long-range planning, and rolling forecasts across the organization
- Provide proactive insights on business performance, risks, and opportunities to drive informed decision-making
- Influence strategic initiatives including pricing strategy, valuation of complex deal structures, cost optimization, capital allocation, and growth investments
Financial Planning & Performance Management
- Oversee company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
- Develop and maintain financial models to support scenario planning and business cases
- Deliver executive-ready reporting packages and board-level presentations
- Establish KPIs and performance dashboards to monitor operational and financial performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a finance point of contact for strategic initiatives, coordinating with teams across the business
- Translate financial insights into clear narratives that support stakeholder understanding and strategic decision-making
- Collaborate on presentations and materials for executive audiences and project steering groups
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of FP&A professionals; establish clear goals, accountability, and career development paths
- Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Elevate the analytical capabilities of the team through training, systems enhancements, and best-practice implementation
- Drive cross-functional alignment between Finance and key business units
Process & Systems Improvement

- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Lead enhancements to financial systems, planning tools, and reporting automation
- Strengthen internal controls and data governance within FP&A processes
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or related field, with 3+ years in a leadership role
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing high-performing teams
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate financial insights
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills
We will prioritize those who live in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and who are available to come into our Headquarters in Arlington, VA two to three days a week.
