Technical Program Manager I

What We’re Looking For:
The Technical Program Manager I supports the planning, execution, and delivery of small to medium-sized technical projects. This role works under the guidance of senior program managers while collaborating closely with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
The Technical Program Manager I helps coordinate project activities, track deliverables, manage documentation, and maintain clear communication across stakeholders. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a foundational understanding of project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments and is eager to grow their project management capabilities while contributing to successful technical project delivery.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Project Planning and Coordination
- Assist in the development and maintenance of detailed project plans that outline scope, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and required resources. Work with senior project managers and technical leads to ensure project activities are properly sequenced and dependencies are clearly identified. Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and other planning ceremonies to ensure project work is properly organized and prioritized.
- Project Execution and Delivery Support
- Coordinate day-to-day project activities to ensure tasks and milestones are completed on schedule. Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to monitor progress against the project plan and facilitate the resolution of blockers that could impact delivery. Support teams in maintaining momentum and alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Status Tracking and Reporting
- Track project progress using established project management tools and maintain accurate project documentation. Prepare and distribute project status updates, reports, and dashboards to stakeholders, highlighting progress, key milestones, upcoming deliverables, and potential risks. Ensure project artifacts and records are consistently updated and easily accessible.
- Risk and Issue Management
- Assist in identifying potential project risks, dependencies, and issues that may impact timelines or deliverables. Maintain risk and issue logs, track mitigation actions, and escalate concerns to senior project managers when necessary. Support proactive problem-solving efforts to minimize disruptions to project execution.
- Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration
- Facilitate communication between technical teams, project leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables. Help coordinate meetings, stand-ups, and project reviews while ensuring action items and decisions are properly documented and communicated.
- Project Administration and Documentation
- Provide administrative and operational support to project teams, including maintaining project documentation, organizing meeting notes, tracking action items, and supporting internal process improvements that enhance project efficiency and transparency.
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 1–2 years of experience in a technical program management, project coordination, or related role.
- Foundational understanding of project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall frameworks.
- Familiarity with Agile project frameworks such as Scrum, Lean, or Kanban.
- Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Trello, MS Project, or similar platforms.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Understanding of project management conventions and techniques, including managing work against a detailed schedule, backlog, or roadmap.
- Motivated self-starter who is eager to learn and able to quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to navigate complex environments with multiple stakeholders, priorities, and moving pieces.
While this position is open to remote candidates across the U.S., we will prioritize those who live in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and who are available to come into our Headquarters in Arlington, VA two days a week.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is ($92,000 - $102,000), with potential bonus eligibility. Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, budget for the position and cost of labor in the market in which the candidate will be hired.
