What We’re Looking For:
The Educator Engagement & Development team empowers professionals in higher education to create an engaging and equitable digital learning environment that delivers transformative student outcomes. To do this, the team guides educators across all of 2U’s diverse product lines through the process of designing, developing, leading and teaching high-quality learning experiences through direct consultation and onboarding services as well as development, maintenance, and promotion of asynchronous teaching resources.
Manager, Educator Engagement & Development leads a team of Instructional Strategists and/or Instructional Learning Designers and is responsible for direct people management, as well as day-to-day operations and cross-functional collaboration. A successful candidate will value and enjoy the challenge of supporting a diverse team, building relationships with multiple stakeholders in a complex organization, and thinking critically about finding opportunities to increase team efficiency and effectiveness. They can successfully balance multiple competing priorities with the agility and willingness to adapt to change, shift course, alter approaches and assume new responsibilities.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
People Management and Staff Development
- Effectively manage direct reports, including hiring, onboarding, and developing team members for professional growth and to achieve team goals and metrics.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback. Address any performance concerns proactively and maintain detailed documentation.
- Create a culture of inclusion that attracts and retains candidates with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and strengths.
- Align work to individual team members' unique strengths, experiences, and areas of expertise to create a high-functioning team.
- Establish a transparent and inclusive culture to emphasize the importance of performance feedback and conflict management to drive successful outcomes.
- Engage in meaningful coaching conversations that are tailored to individual skill sets and professional goals; challenge direct reports to take calculated risks and expand skill-sets through stretch goals.
Operations Management
- Manage day-to-day operations, processes, and systems to create a seamless experience for educators accessing 2U educator services and resources.
- Use efficient organizational systems to track direct reports’ work, measure outcomes, and hold them accountable for meeting individual metrics and deadlines.
- Translate 2U strategic vision into measurable goals and specific expectations for direct reports; consider impact to team and other business areas when making decisions.
- Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement, and support direct reports’ optimal performance by eliminating critical roadblocks.
- Use a data-driven approach to identify and advocate for current and future resource needs of the team, creating a comprehensive vision of the positive contributions these resources would have on the team, our partners and the bottom line of the business.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Learning Operations leadership team to establish strategic goals, prioritize initiatives, and develop benchmarks to increase educator effectiveness and engagement.
- Build rapport and trust with cross-functional internal stakeholders to advocate on behalf of educator needs, increase team visibility, resolve issues, and implement strategic initiatives.
- Address questions and escalated issues from team members, internal teams, educators, and partners to ensure appropriate resolution and communication.
- Proactively communicate with leadership, team members, and relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and shared vision.
- Represent the broader Educator Engagement & Development team and overall educator journey in cross-functional meetings and initiatives.
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
- Bachelor degree required: relevant Masters degree preferred
- At least 10 years of experience in education with preference to experience in higher education, online education and/or education technology
- At least 4 years of previous people management experience and/or at least 6 years of managing large scale projects and systems.
- Past experience utilizing technologies such as Zoom, Salesforce, JIRA, and industry standard learning management systems.

Management Responsibilities:
- Supervises 4-8 individual contributors with varying levels of experience and responsibilities to fulfilling the team mission.
- Provides guidance and support to team members
- Makes hiring recommendations, provides work direction, problem-solving assistance and oversees the daily operations of the team.
- Manages scheduling, assigns work, makes decisions related to salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.
- Collaborate and align with other people managers and lead individual contributors on the team

The anticipated base salary range for this role is ($107,200 - $120,900), with potential bonus eligibility. Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, budget for the position and cost of labor in the market in which the candidate will be hired.
