Senior Director, Head of Tax (f/m/x)
About the role
As a Senior Director Tax, you will lead the Group Tax Department, overseeing all group-wide tax matters and a team of four professionals. This is a strategic yet hands-on role where you will develop group-wide tax optimization opportunities, lead tax audits, and continuously evolve the group tax and transfer pricing strategy. You will be part of the Group Finance Leadership Team, working closely with the CFO and company leadership to ensure tax compliance and support special projects.
What you’ll do
- Lead the team: You will lead and manage the Group Tax Department, which includes direct responsibility for a team of four skilled professionals.
- Manage tax matters: You will be responsible for all group-wide tax matters, collaborating with local and international group companies on various aspects of (corporate) tax law.
- Develop strategy: You will continuously develop the group tax and transfer pricing strategy for the Group and identify group-wide tax optimization opportunities.
- Ensure compliance: You will oversee the group’s tax compliance activities, including preparing corporate income tax and VAT returns for German group companies.
- Oversee financial reporting: You will be responsible for deferred tax positions (IFRS and HGB) in annual, consolidated, and quarterly financial statements, as well as financial planning.
- Handle audits: You will lead tax audits and appeal proceedings, and be responsible for selecting and coordinating external consultants.
What you’ll bring
- Experience: You have 10+ years of professional experience in a similar leadership role within an international company's tax department or a leading international tax consultancy.
- Leadership: You have a proven track record of leading and motivating high-performing teams. You are a people leader who can also "go deep" on complex tax matters with a hands-on attitude.
- Education: You have a degree in economics, business, or law with a focus on taxation and ideally have successfully completed the German tax advisor exam (Steuerberaterprüfung).
- Tax Law: You possess strong knowledge of both German and international tax law.
- Analytical Skills: You work analytically, are structured and goal-oriented, and are comfortable using data and advanced analytics.
- Communication: You have excellent German and English language skills and enjoy working in a dynamic international environment.
