Senior UI/UX Designer
540 is seeking a Senior UI/UX Designer to create user-centered applications for the federal government, leveraging modern open-source technologies on AWS. As a key member of an agile team, you will collaborate with designers, developers, and federal stakeholders on the USCIS Biometrics and Scheduling System. Embedded within DevSecOps teams, you’ll contribute to an optimized and accessible user experience in a highly collaborative environment.
Your responsibilities will include conducting user research, refining requirements, designing mockups, and presenting intuitive, streamlined designs. By supporting USCIS's mission, your work will assist immigration benefit seekers and enhance the overall user experience for all system users.
Location: Remote within the continental United States, East Coast working hours with some flexibility afforded
Citizenship & Clearance Requirement: per client requirements, must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DHS Public Trust clearance
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 8+ years of UI/UX design experience
- 3+ years of UX architecture and design expertise for enterprise applications on AWS
- Proficiency in Figma for creating wireframes and interactive prototypes
- Experience designing and deploying large-scale, high-performance enterprise applications in complex, heterogeneous environments
- Product management experience with a focus on user-centered design
- Experience documenting and designing design requirements
- Ability to negotiate design trade-off effectively with stakeholders
- A portfolio that showcases your design process and deliverables across various digital experiences
- Experience producing user flows, journey maps, wireframes and mockups
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Experience conducting interviews with key stakeholders and end users
- Ability to identify critical functional needs and translate them into intuitive design solutions
- Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience collaborating with developers to ensure features are implemented as designed
- Understanding of modern agile software development practices
- Understanding of content strategy methods and best practices
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) delivery
- Experience working in government environments, particularly with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
