
Senior Building Engineer
The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Engineer to join our team and lead critical maintenance operations across our facilities. This individual will play a vital role not only in executing complex repairs and systems oversight but also in proactively identifying issues, developing solutions, and creating protocols that prevent future problems. This is our most senior engineering position—ideal for a proactive, solutions-oriented leader who thrives in a hands-on environment and can work with minimal direction.
Full-time position with 40 guaranteed hours per week; overtime opportunities available.
Location: United States, Nashville, TN
What you'll do
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of facility issues (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems)
- Develop, implement, and document preventive maintenance and repair protocols
- Supervise or guide other technicians and vendors in executing repairs and improvements
- Manage and oversee complex repair jobs, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance
- Respond quickly to emergencies such as water leaks or system failures with minimal oversight
- Communicate with internal stakeholders about maintenance plans, priorities, and progress
- Serve as the go-to subject matter expert for building systems and infrastructure
Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in building engineering or facilities management
- Deep knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
- Proven ability to solve problems independently and design repair/maintenance plans
- Ability to create and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Experience working in commercial or mixed-use properties preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus
- This is a hands-on role with regular on-site work and physical activity
- Must be available for emergency response as needed
- Occasional oversight of subcontractors or junior technicians
- Expected to take initiative and lead the team in creating operational excellence
- Familiarity with Google Suite and MaintainX

Salary Range
We seek to hire top-tier individuals and intend for our compensation to be at a rate that allows us to recruit and retain individuals who align with our core values, purpose, mission, and vision. Final total compensation is based on a multitude of factors including, but not limited to, skill level, relevant experience to the position, and cost of labor.
Annual pay range
$75,000 - $100,000 USD
