Overview of Role
The MicroStrategy Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of the MicroStrategy platform. They will work with a variety of MicroStrategy products and will leverage their python, SQL, and automation skills to monitor, maintain, and improve MIcroStrategy environments. This role requires collaborating with clients and analysts to identify optimal technical solutions, utilizing and improving established processes, and collaborating on the Managed Solutions team.
Responsibilities
- Implementing and managing security roles, access controls, and authentication mechanisms within MicroStrategy to ensure data security and compliance with organizational policies.
- Manage user access and permissions
- Work with clients and analysts to gather requirements and design solutions
- Provide technical support to MicroStrategy users, troubleshooting issues, and answering questions related to report development, data access, and platform functionality
- Stay up-to-date on the latest MicroStrategy features and best practices
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of the MicroStrategy environment, including system architecture, configurations, and troubleshooting guides
- Proven experience in dashboard development, report building, object development, and maintenance
- Develop workflows to automate administrative functions utilizing tools such as Python, MicroStrategy’s Rest API, Command Manager and System Manager.
- Monitor system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing system resources (CPU, memory, disk space) to ensure efficient operation and scalability. This may involve query optimization, caching strategies, and load balancing.

- Strong experience in CI/CD and Git-based version control (Bitbucket – push/pull, branching), along with JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience with MicroStrategy Administrative Functions is required!
Qualifications
- At least 3-5 years of experience working with the MicroStrategy Analytics Platform in an administrative capacity.
- Strong familiarity with the differences in administrative process between self-hosted and Managed Cloud Environments (MCE).
- Strong understanding of MicroStrategy architecture and components.
- Experience with MicroStrategy installation, configuration, and administration
- Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience managing environments with heavy utilization of intelligence cubes and high volumes of subscriptions.
- Experience utilizing MicroStrategy Workstation, understanding the differences in capabilities between Workstation and Developer application capabilities.
- Experience building automation solutions utilizing Python and MicroStrategy’s Rest API.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including advanced query writing and performance optimization
- Strong Experience utilizing System Manager and Command Manager applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge or Hands-on experience of BI/reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio) is desirable and will be viewed as an added advantage.
- Experience or familiarity with Google BigQuery is a plus.
- Experience with security and user management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and own deliverables end-to-end.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related or equivalent work experience required.
