SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST – AI (P1966)
SUMMARY:
We are a community of data scientists that act as the voice of the customer – they share their story with us each and every day. Through simple, comprehensive, purposeful analytics, we fearlessly bring these customer stories and journeys to life. Our 360° customer view allows us to anticipate customer needs, thus enabling our clients to connect with their customers in meaningful, relevant ways.
We expect all data scientists to be hands-on with retailer databases and advanced analytics, but in this role you will additionally focus on applying machine learning, natural language processing, and modern AI frameworks to create scalable, intelligent customer solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead project delivery and stakeholder management to ensure sound knowledge of client objectives and customer insight, designing best-in-class solutions delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Partner with software engineering, product, and design to scale and deploy data science solutions, including designing API contracts and UI flows that surface AI-driven recommendations and insights to end-users.
- Interpret results and develop actionable recommendations from data analysis to build relevant customer stories for clients.
- Ensure quality, scalability, and automation of code, pipelines, and packages, including code optimization and removing manual processes.
- Identify gaps and opportunities within existing science, measurement, and data solutions to enhance media planning, optimization, and reporting offerings.
- Guide and mentor junior data scientists in establishing standard processes, driving efficiencies, and championing best practices and knowledge sharing across the data science community.
- Drive machine learning and AI solutions into our products, thinking creatively to bring the most value to the user, and collaborating with research teams to vet advanced science techniques within the ads business.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in retail, ad technology, digital media, and/or advertising analytics.
- 2+ years of experience in extracting insights from large databases, translating data into actionable solutions and presenting findings and recommendations to clients.
- Strong Python and SQL skills with 2+ years of experience developing technical analytics solutions using advanced algorithms and programming languages.
- Experience with big data and cloud technologies (e.g., Azure, Spark, Databricks, or similar technologies).
- Experience with data wrangling, data cleaning, and building computationally efficient solutions.
- Data visualization skills and ability to present technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Natural curiosity that embraces change, with a willingness to experiment and learn from failure.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs): Experience with prompt engineering, intent extraction, and entity recognition using modern LLM APIs or frameworks (e.g., OpenAI function calling, LangChain, Hugging Face).
- Semantic Search & Embeddings: Familiarity with vector databases and embedding models (e.g., Sentence-BERT, OpenAI embeddings) for product/theme matching and retrieval.
- Optimization & Recommender Systems: Understanding of constrained optimization techniques and integrating predictive propensities into targeting/recommendation workflows.
- Feedback Loop Design: Experience capturing and leveraging user interactions/edits to continuously improve AI models through active learning or retraining pipelines.

- The stated salary range represents the entire span applicable across all geographic markets from lowest to highest. Actual salary offers will be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data and cost of labor. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for variable compensation.

$98,000 - $169,050 USD
