Film Distribution Budgeting & Analytics Manager

A24 is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Film Distribution Budgeting & Analytics Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for Distribution-related budgeting, data integrity, and financial reporting & analysis across A24’s growing film slate. This role will be an integral part of the Film Ops team with cross-functional accountability into A24’s Accounting team.

Initial Responsibilities

  • Budgeting & Financial Reporting
    • Partner closely with individual departments and the Film Ops team to build film distribution budgets and track & analyze actuals across A24’s full ecosystem, including but not limited to:
      • Theatrical Releasing (Publicity, Creative Marketing, Specialty Marketing, Media, Exhibition, Post & Delivery)
      • Awards Campaigns
      • International Sales / Festivals
      • International Direct Distribution
      • Digital Distribution (VOD, Library Sales, etc.)
      • Film-related Brand Initiatives (A24 Shop, Publishing, Music, etc.)
    • Ensure timely, accurate, and highly-vetted P&A reporting, including preparing weekly status reports for distribution expenses across A24’s slate (e.g., upcoming titles, current theatrical releases, and A24’s film library)
    • Lead regular P&A budget meetings with film leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to report on risks, opportunities, and overall tracking across A24’s film distribution budgets
    • Identify themes and opportunities for efficiencies across A24’s distribution spend and provide analytical reporting for internal post-mortems
  • Process Improvements & Analytics
    • Proactively suggest process improvements, chart of account updates, and new tool integrations to ensure A24’s financial and accounting processes are right-sized for our growing film business
    • Partner with Film Ops and Film FP&A teams on ad hoc analytics projects to improve efficiency and drive financial outcomes
    • Support implementation of corporate initiatives related to A24’s T&E policy, expense management, and new software / tools / process changes
  • Team Education
    • Serve as “first line of defense” to answer team questions about coding, POs, and invoices
    • Partner with staff to identify themes related to coding inconsistencies / errors, and provide proactive training for relevant team members
    • Maintain updated training materials to help the team code expenses as accurately as possible (e.g., new territories, business lines, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in accounting or FP&A, film experience preferred.
  • Deeply curious and proactive, including an enthusiasm for “looking under the microscope” to investigate when data looks off
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Professionalism and the ability to successfully build relationships with employees across tenures and departments
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities, pivot quickly, think practically and be solution-oriented 
  • A can-do, no job is too small, team-oriented attitude
  • Humble, diligent and resourceful

Our target salary range for this role is between $100,000 to $120,000.  We do not use formal job titles internally and similarly named positions may have different compensation levels. Actual starting salary within the range will depend on various considerations, including: work experience, skills, specializations, and training. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, including both cash and equity components, competitive healthcare, as well as other employee benefits.
