Revenue Cycle Dental Biller (Anesthesia)

Ambulatory Anesthesia Care is seeking to hire a dedicated full-time remote revenue cycle team member who thrives in the dynamic pace of the revenue cycle, particularly as a biller, and values teamwork..

About AAC: We're a dynamic practice management organization supporting Ambulatory Surgery Centers and Office-Based Anesthesiology practices across Illinois, Texas, Washington, and Oregon. 

Responsibilities: As a key team member, your primary duties will include:

  • Review, prepare, and submit claims for dental anesthesia services. 
  • Ensure claims are coded and billed accurately using applicable CPT, ICD-10, CDT, HCPCS, and modifier requirements. 
  • Monitor claim status and resolve claim edits, rejections, and clearinghouse issues. 
  • Identify and escalate issues that could impact timely claim submission or accuracy to the Revenue Cycle Manager promptly. 
  • Work claims through the revenue cycle from submission to final resolution. 
  • Maintain payer-specific billing requirements and submission guidelines. 

Accounts Receivable and Denial Management 

  • Perform follow-up on unpaid, denied, and underpaid claims. 
  • Investigate reimbursement discrepancies and payment variances. 
  • Collaborate with Operations, Credentialing, Contracting, and Revenue Cycle teams to address reimbursement challenges. 
  • Prepare and submit appeals, reconsiderations, and supporting documentation. 
  • Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and remittance advice statements. 

Dental Billing and Reimbursement Expertise 

  • Serve as AAC's internal resource for dental anesthesia billing and reimbursement questions. 
  • Research payer policies related to dental anesthesia services, oral surgery procedures, sedation, and medical necessity requirements. 
  • Evaluate billing pathways involving commercial medical carriers, Medicaid programs, and dental administrators. 
  • Maintain expertise in dental and medical benefit coordination. 

 

Qualifications: To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

Technical Experience 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ dental anesthesia experience, oral surgery, or medical billing experience with substantial dental exposure. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of CDT and CPT coding, including dental-to-medical cross-coding. 
  • Knowledge of dental and medical billing processes, payer requirements, and claims adjudication. 
  • Familiarity with anesthesia billing concepts, including base and time units, preferred. 
  • Coding or billing certification (CPC, CPB, CDC, or similar) preferred. 

 

General Skills & Knowledge 

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). 
  • Comfortable using and navigating multiple systems including EMRs, dental practice management systems, and payer portals. 
  • Comfort working through evolving or inconsistent payer guidance across multiple states. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in claims preparation and submission. 
  • Communication: Effectively interacts with payers, patients, dental practices, and internal teams. 

Working Hours: This position requires availability during CST operating hours, preferably 8 am ET – 4:30 pm CST. AAC will provide the selected candidate with a laptop and necessary IT supplies for secure remote work.
