About the Role:

As our Sr. Director of Engineering, you will be at the helm of our cutting-edge engineering teams, driving innovation and excellence in software, data, and AI. You will not just manage; you will inspire and empower geographically diverse teams to achieve ambitious goals. Collaborating closely with quality engineers, product owners, and business leaders, you will oversee the seamless operation of engineering processes to ensure our business objectives are not only met but exceeded. Your leadership will set the tone for success by fostering growth, providing constructive feedback, and unlocking the full potential of our teams.

You will also partner with our VP Engineering and CTO on strategic initiatives that shape the future of the company. From scaling our engineering organization to meet evolving needs, to identifying transformative opportunities for innovation and growth, you will be a key player in steering the company into its next chapter of excellence. 

You Will:

  • Translate company vision into scalable engineering strategies while balancing innovation, compliance, and delivery.
  • Lead geographically distributed teams across the US, India, and Nepal, fostering an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative environment.
  • Guide teams through organizational changes, integrations, and scaling (toward upwards of 100 engineers) while maintaining alignment and morale.
  • Build, mentor and retain high-performing, diverse engineering teams with clear growth paths, ensuring adherence to architectural strategies, coding standards, and organizational policies.
  • Leverage your deep expertise in Data, software and AI to establish yourself as a thought leader.
  • Spearhead critical internal initiatives in Quality, Data and Product Engineering, AI, Development Productivity, and Benchmarking.
  • Deliver high-quality outcomes on schedule by actively collaborating with tech leads, architects, product managers, and project managers.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently to resonate with executive teams and inspire trust across the organization.
  • Navigate high-stakes customer interactions with credibility and professionalism.
  • Make timely, informed decisions under ambiguity, take ownership of outcomes, and instill accountability at all levels.
  • Contribute to and influence software architectural discussions, advocating for consistency and excellence at every level.
  • Promote modern engineering practices and identify opportunities to enhance people, processes, and performance within Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Commit to securing all confidential data, adhere to the highest standards of data protection, and promote ethical practices across the team’s operations.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field, advanced degree a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience as a software developer, within a minimum of 5 years managing large, global software development teams.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals with a high level understanding of OO concepts, design patterns, cloud architecture, AI architecture and concepts, MPP architecture and frameworks such as Spark, API‘s, etc.
  • Experience and good understanding of designing scalable, distributed systems for running small to medium scale data processing applications and services (10s – 100s of TBs of data)
  • Possess a level of breadth and depth of software development experience that allows for influence and competence in technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven record of success of leading engineering teams towards developing production grade systems supporting enterprise size customers.
  • Strong technical experience in Databricks, Snowflake, and FHIR.

Bonus Points:

  • Prior experience working with healthcare data.
